HotelCC

The airline that I am at seems to stay at IHG branded hotels a vast majority of the time. I realize that I will not get the points for most of my stays but understand IHG proporties will give you a stay credit. That being said, I am in need of a new CC that does not have foreign transaction fees. With the IHG CC is says that you get platinum status along with your standard bonus point blah blah. Does anyone have any experience as to wether that makes any difference when you are actually out on the road when the company is the one footing the bill? Any other suggestions of good ones to get? Thanks in advance.

Try Capitol One. I don't believe I'm hit with a transaction fee. Individual vendors, overseas, may charge an "internal credit card fee".

Contact the bank that that sponsors the IHG credit card, an ask for specific details.

Thanks for the link! I know that the IHG CC does NOT have foreign transaction fees associated with it. What I really want to know is if anyone has the IHG CC and if they get any added benefit when they are on the road even if their airline pays for the room. Since I will now be able to get frequent flyer miles an the occasion hotel point. Any other suggestions on cards the guys (or gals) use internationally?

Froggy, I have followed the points guy for about a year and accumulated over 800k points by doing what he tells you to do. He and many like him find the best cards out there for your specific circumstance and teach you how to use it to your benefit. I have a Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Amex Platinum (for sky lounge access), united miles one, as well as a few others. They also discuss how to transfer points and get the best bang for your buck on hotels and upgraded flights if you are in the market for one. Your answer will certainly be found by following that site. Happy hunting.

How do you like the Sky Lounge access feature? I'm on the fence right now with the American Airlines premium card, with the $450 annual fee. But with the resumption of commuting in my near future, I'm reconsidering. That and the no foreign transaction fee feature, something the other AAdvantage cards somehow don't offer...

Have you found the $450 annual fee for your Amex card worth it?

My wife and I are/were active duty so the fee is waved...but I use the lounge all the time. The centurion lounges are amazing. I'm a big fan.
