Swift air
#201
Eastern pilots have already been offered jobs. Some are taking it, some are not. First group will go when the firat airplane goes around the end of August. We all understand what happened and that Swift just bought the assets from Eastern. New company, new rules, new pay scale. Yes, we were lied to. Only time will tell about growth or demise. It can go either way.
Or is there more to this seemingly stupid deal. The Eastern name was of recognition value, but will be discarded. The Eastern Certificate, was of significant value, but will be turned in to the FAA.
Hmmmm....I'm really scratching my head here. What's wrong with this picture guys. Help me here...does this really make sense. Or is there a more sinister plot afoot for the money people. Stay tuned....In the mean time, we the PUPITS - on both sides of this fiasco - will continue to have our strings pulled.
Had a job before Swift, had a job before Eastern. May not be what we think is perfect for us, but if this doesn't work, NEXT......

Curious
What is a "Pupit"? Do you mean "Puppet" as in Ms. Piggy?
The EAL name should have never been re-animated (see the movie) from it's grave. I do not believe one person from the original Eastern was involved. The management team was a hodge podge of, let's just say, INTERESTING AIRLINE PEOPLE, with various INTERESTING pasts. It lasted as long as most thought and it's over.
Swift will use it for growth and new aircaft, that's it. They are being kind offering crew new jobs and yes, they also need crews. Again, not all will be welcome and I reckon not all will be employed very long. Inside intel says there were nefarious characters employed at Eastern. Some, not all, are grossly misrepresenting themselves and it eventually comes out in the sim. It is why more direct entry captains are being hired.
You are right MNPS about what may happen. I never thought Allegiant would be where they are today. Judging by Mexi and Triggs coomments, and I know a few others, Swift seems to be headed in the right direction. Make the best of it, read previous post, or you might not survive very long.
Best of luck either way.

So now it's getting interesting, 2 Eastern NGs imminently, some from Europe and some from Xtra bringing it up to 6 NGs by the end of the year.
I know Xtra is owned by a leasing company and Swift is taking Xtra contracts, but come on are they really going to do business with a direct competitor?

Sounds to me more like taking out the competition.
