I received an email from Omni with an application to fill out. This company has been around for a long time, I stopped in the office in Tulsa when they were phasing out the DC-10 and getting the 767, around 2008 I believe. They wanted people with time crossing the Atlantic, from what I've read here it seems like they have alot of people who have that experience. That all being said, is it worth my time to submit my paperwork to them? Is it really looking like 2020 before they have a contract? I'm in my early 30's trying to get my foot in the door with wide bodies, no reply from Atlas and I don't want to spend 10+ years at a regional. Thanks for the info.

It is luck of the draw at Omni. You may get the schedule you bid and get the hours to help your career. You may not! If you read the other thread you will see we don't keep our new hires long. If they make it through training. You say you don't want the regionals. Yet you will get 1000 hours a year and be proficient at your craft. This will make you more marketable than 300 hours a year. The contract issue is another reason to stay clear until it is signed. Omni if it doesn't get with it soon may shrink considerable. Good luck on what ever you decide.

Omni is to a craft, as any regional is to milwakee's best. One of the issues with attrition is that we are hiring FO's that are already very marketable. Omni is a bit slow to follow the industry when it comes to hiring practices and changes. That combined with the recent interest cargo airlines have been taking in widebody pilots is the reason that some don't stay very long.

[QUOTE=boschpilot;2354102]Interesting thought. Don't fly for an ACMI or LLC -instead go try your hand at a regional. Where you'll be respected as a professional. Learn amazing things and fly with crews that have a plethora of experience. Oh, wait a sec.
I didn't say don't fly for an ACMI or LLC. I said stay at a regional or go to a regional to get the hours to make you more marketable. Why would you waste your time at Omni to get less pay and hours. This would be a two to three year experience/financial mistake. Yes the flying is good, when you fly. Depending on luck of the draw you may just sit in hotel room. I hear 10-15 years ago Omni was more organized and had more flying, but the last five years have been a joke. You may have had better luck than I, but that is one thing about Omni it will come back and get you. So get while the jobs are plentiful.

The most recent letter from the union could have simply said, "Boys, its time to leave."
It is clear that the attitude from Omni's management will never allow us to get a contract. They will drag this out until everybody has found other jobs with real career potential and then the light go off at Omni. It is without question management thinks the employees are worthless.

Atlas and Kalitta need experienced pilots NOW! I think Kalitta is the better deal right now, but Atlas is getting outside pressure to get negotiations done or business will go elsewhere. Atlas will have a contract before Omni for sure.

I can't wait to read the company letter. I need a good laugh.
The company doesn't care about it's employees, so I don't care about Omni. Hoping to get my call soon.
