Uniform

Finally received my uniform after two months of back and forth with the lovely Crew Outfitters lady. 😑

And... The blazer is awfully long compared to my other suits. It looks like I borrowed my dad's jacket. Are uniforms supposed to fit that way?

Mine is slightly long. Good luck with our Crew Outfitters lady, she is a known issue. If you want it to fit right, spend the money to get it tailored but no-one is going to call you out on it.

Uniform policy here is lax to say the least. I think they started cracking down on people not wearing ties. Not a wrong color tie, or an unapproved tie, but just not wearing ties in general.

They should just give up on the jacket and allow North Face fleece zip up. It's our unofficial jacket anyway.

Literally took me 370 days to get my hat.

Call Bonnie's boss. the contact info is in the GOM. I got the run around until I called her boss and she heard my 5 minute dissertation on the lack of service. FedEx box arrived the next day. make the call

you are not alone. very poor customer service.

I have seen a C5 captain standing in the middle of EWR terminal C, casually surfing the web on his phone while his uniform shirt was completely untucked. There's no way he could not have noticed.

Some may not agree with this statement, but until United starts coughing up some real dough for its express pilots, every pilot should look like the untucked shirt guy. Add a few cheeseburger stains and some semen stains to go along with it. They want to keep paying dog crap wages, they will get a pilot who looks like dog crap.

Year 1 50 seat CA at Endeavor is ~$84. Start there.

Quite the professional you sound to be. You knew what the pay was when you took the job.

You’re welcome to stay at that pay if you are content with it. In fact, with that logic nobody should ask for more money ever. I on the other hand fight fire with fire. You will never get anything as a timid passenger of life. “Excuse me sir may I have a raise pretty please” Pilots are a bunch of pansies afraid to rock the boat. I say now is the time to start rocking this ship. Do whatever it takes. Make waves. Have a voice.

Disclaimer: I fly a few days a month, my main income is not from flying. Friends call me a shrewd business person.

How did you know he was C5?
I have noticed Mom dresses us all alike.

He was the captain of the Dash I was deadheading on a few minutes earlier.

That does tend to make for a positive ID

The only thing people should be getting from Crew Outfitters is the blazer, and maybe luggage, since its a 0% loan and really hard to screw up. Everything else you should just go to another place.

The lady who owns the place will use scare tactics about colors not matching. She even told me that I needed to make sure I had the correct belt and that she was the only one that sold it. I declined.

I personally bought my shirts and pants from A Cut Above and they match perfectly. Use some of that bonus money to get a pair of pants that actually fit right, and shirts that are far more comfortable and don't balloon out.

The company does put a small stipend in your check for uniforms, so pay yourself back.

You would hope that with the amount of business this lady is getting from CommutAirs growth that she would have a little professionalism, but she doesn't.

She tried to pull the same belt scam on me.

Agreed, I also buy my shirts from A Cut Above. Which pants color did you go with, Navy or UAL Midnight Blue?

I'm not going to excuse it, but I'm willing to call it what it is. Half the crews on the line are not wearing anything close to approved outerwear when it's cold out.

rswitz 05-08-2018 05:01 AM

Guys when did you receive the uniform? During or after training?

My uniform items were delivered to my home while I was in sim.

I did not order a hat or leather jacket.
