Is this CPP legit?
I'm a 4700 hr TT, 1273 hr B727 SIC pilot that's getting back into flying and just found out about CommutAir's DEC hiring and their CPP.
Is the CPP legit? They're advertising a little over 2 years to flow through. This could be very attractive to me with the $45K bonus.
Thanks in advance.

There is no flow. All the CPP guarantees is that you get 2 strikes to pass the hogan AND the Interview. Not passing either counts as 1 strike and requires a year wait to retry. 2 strikes means there is no CPP of any kind for you left. The only airlines that have a true FLOW are AA wholly owned ones.

I'm all for bringing on experienced people, but I wonder if the OP would be better off going to a LCC.
And keep in mind that the $45K does come with strings, as do all of the sign-on bonuses. C5 wants you to stick around at least two years. Read the fine print.

The issue isn’t whether or not the CPP is legit. Anything that depends upon you “passing” a personality test but then gives you “two chances” a year apart to pass is inherently bogus. Personality in an adult doesn’t change over a year, although one can certainly learn to game the test in that much time if they apply themself.
The real issue for the OP is whether he/she will be adequately compensated in the only coin of the realm that really matters - TPIC, and in their case currency. After a long layoff they need to get the latter and as soon as possible after that the former. Two type ratings and 6000 hours, 1000 of them TPIC and 2300 of them 121 hours will make him/her reasonably competitive in the hiring market we’ll be seeing in a couple of years, barring a recession.
If the OP can get that with Commutair, living in a base that they like, nothing wrong with that. If not they ought to look elsewhere. But no, don’t DEPEND upon CPP for anything.

Hogan
Interview
1000 Hrs PIC as captain at the company
Final United hiring review
If one is successful at passing every wicket as soon as possible And on the first try it takes just over two years.... IF one is successful. Initial pass rates are low. Less than 50/50 low.
The bigger question for you is if going in as a DEC is a smart decision.
Non flight current and the only jet you’ve got experience on is a 727...it’s probably a better idea for you to go in as an FO learn the jet and the governing books for a bit then upgrade to Captain. That being said, I know someone who did what you’re proposing and is now at United after hitting all the wickets the first time.
