Living in Pennsylvania?

Any C5 pilots live in PA and drive to EWR? I’ve commuted my whole life and am just tired of it and want to be able to drive to work. Moving my family from CA to the east coast and taxes look most favorable there. Any other recommendations would be great, I have a young family a three and one year old.

Thanks-

Bucks Co, even further up towards Allentown.

NJ is on a par with CA for high cost of living including taxes, so stay the hell away from NJ if you can avoid it. Our population is decreasing for a reason. People are leaving in droves. PA is notably cheaper in all respects, though a lot of the new apartments and townhomes being built in the Easton area (which is particularly convenient to Route 78, which leads directly to EWR) are quite expensive, for PA anyway.

Keep in mind that eastern PA can be 1.5+ hour drive to EWR. It sometimes takes me up to 30 minutes to get from the employee lot to the gates, depending mostly on the bus schedule. You may not be able to reliably drive to EWR in 2 hours to meet the reserve call out window. Therefore, at least while on reserve, you may need the occasional hotel or crash pad. That said, C5 loves its airport reserves, so if you need a semi-fixed / predictable schedule, you can request airport reserve and leave sufficiently early to show up at the airport as you would for a 9-5 desk job.

Take a look at Roselle Park, Cranford and Kenilworth in Jersey. Only 20 mins drive from EWR

Safe, relatively affordable and very short drive to work!

Nope. But even new hire Captains are getting a line in Newark fairly quick.
