Commut a good choice for the future?
Hey All,
Im approaching mins pretty quick and Ive been trying to find a regional based in EWR. I live in NJ so life would just be so much easier. My choices dont really span much im stuck with Republic and or Commut if i want a Jersey base. With all that being said I got some questions:
1. What do you guys see happening to Commut in the near future with growth and mergers? ( I know this is a rumor mill question but id like to hear the crowd)
2. Are upgrade times still fairly short or are they starting to go up pretty quick? Same for reserve
3. With the CPP at a stand still how is career progression at Commut where do most guys go?
Thanks!

2. Will take around 2 years to upgrade in the current environment if you were to come now and nothing changes. Reserve times are extremely long with very little flying monthly (5-10 hours). Will change if we grow, but until conditions improve with new contract, we will continue to be stagnant.
3. The first major or legacy that comes calling. Pretty standard like all the other regionals.

Interesting for you to say that because there has been probably been atleast one to multiple people leaving xjt to come to c5 every class pretty much last few months. Rats jumping off a ship over there at xjt... with our former ceo at xjt now. Best of luck with him! We get the last laugh you for that.

Well C5 is supposedly moving away from the C130 hard stands and to the A gates exclusively starting in October. The reason given for this is that C5 will have more departures in EWR than XJT starting that month so we're taking their spots in A terminal.
Not sure if XJT will be utilizing the hard stands in addition to the A gates like C5 has been doing for a while or their flying is simply declining in EWR and the hard stands will be retired. Given the one-in, one-out structure of that alley and all the time my crews have wasted sitting short of the ramp waiting for gates and the alley to clear I hope it's the latter.
I also find this information dovetails conveniently with the recent move of employee parking from the F lot (the buses for which serve both A & C terminals) to the 787 lot (the buses for which only go to the A terminal).
