We have a few at OO, heard they are pretty cool group of pilots to fly with.
We have our share of Aussies. For the most part, they are cool to fly with, minus one or two. I haven't heard of any Aussies coming over from XJT yet.

As far as downgrading, you will take a large pay cut and most majors look down on those that downgrade without a very good reason.

Also, as long as everything stays the same, there will be more junior CA's behind those that get hired now, so those sitting at the bottom will not be on the bottom long (unless something like COVID stops all hiring again).
I think they meant to ask if DEC's will have to downgrade once FO's get the time to upgrade. As jacburn said, nobody gets hired as a DEC. If recruiters are telling anyone that, they are lying. Everyone is hired as an FO and bids for base and seat (if available) during training. Once you become a CA (i.e. pass your line check), you can't be downgraded. We did have some people awarded upgrade before covid that then came back as FO's. But they have all be awarded CA again.

Thank you. I hear that folks with the time are upgrading in new hire training. If they pick me to come aboard I was wondering if that could be a possibility and the pros and possible cons

Pro:
Be a captain
Receive captain pay

Con:
You have to deal with our training department and have to figure it out more than as a FO (who can lick windows and not kill everyone to pass)
Your seniority is poor so enjoy the bad flying no one else wanted

Default Hiring?

Is hiring still happening? I saw they recently posted on social media that atp/ctp is now provided. Current CFI with 1300 hours. Also in Aviate and hoping that helps in this current environment.

It will most probably be provided only when we run out of ATP qualified applicants.

The careers page never took down the paid CTP statement.

I talked with someone in the recruiting department, they are hiring CFIs. Obviously they're picking the cream of the CFI crop, but they don't want to only CAs and then end up very short of FOs in a year as has happened in the past.

We are hiring a small percentage of CFI's (1500 hours) in each class. Not sure about the atp/ctp training though.

Aviate will help.

If a million + pax keep flying per day we will need all hands on deck very soon. Stay optimistic and keep building your time. You are right on time!
