Default New Hire Expectations

Hello C5ers,

A few previous XJT drivers are starting class in March and wanted to get some information. We are being told that IAH should be a possible base to hold out of training? Having previous EMB145 Captain experience, how soon can we expect to get a bid in for CA? How has the Aviate program been thus far?

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

when the airline doubles in size or every FO upgrades ahead of you then it will be your time. The days of 1000 sic being the bar for upgrade is over. It will be pure seniority for a few years until the people start dropping off the top of the list rapidly

Would love to know where people in the Aviate program stand and if they're hiring folks without an ATP or prior 121/E145 time

Thanks for the information. Heard the company is at 29ish check airman and needing 60ish so I guess your first suggestion is accurate!

There are people upgrading as new hires in indoc. IAH and DEN are the JR bases so both should be easy to get. Aviate started doing interviews again this last week. Once hiring at UAL starts up again, there hopefully will be lots of movement.

Thanks for the reply! That's what we were being told but always better to hear from line pilots than just HR.

My friend at UA was an aviate coach and said there was roughly 60 coaches with 6 pilots assigned to each. Sounds like a great time to be coming aboard.

People can only upgrade if there is a spot available. We don’t displace jr folks so sr ones can upgrade. Right now and for the foreseeable future there lots of open captain spots.
