I don't think hiring at any airline is a result of the CARES act.

The government welfare has kept massive Pilot furloughs away and has given airlines cushion in tough times. Maybe the hiring is due to demand rebounding somewhat but also all the early outs has created slots.

Well, contract negotiations are starting this month. Any guesses how long that will take?

My bet is when we have 175’s on the line and an SFO base.

Probably more accurate than 'warp speed.'

My crystal ball says a TA is approved for ratification in about 6 months. Will it be good enough to pass? I suspect not and that will buy the company another year of savings.

I say 2-3 years minimum for a TA if I were a man.

they’ll throw in some Easter eggs to help make it pass like Xjt did with those 25 175s. Who knows though.. it could go really well due to United’s needs to have a strong feed on the regional side.

I flew with a union CA, said it would be a while before an agreement is made. “Neither one of us will be here anymore” were his exact words. So I for one don’t have any hope of better pay/contract anytime soon. The pilot group here has been great so far but the quality of life especially for a commuter is ****. As an FO Between the time spent commuting on my days off and the **** pay, I could literally make more money going back to instructing. I for one am jumping ship at the first opportunity.

maybe there is a positive reason as to why he said that. I totally understand the commuting life. If this is your first time in the game hang in there. Hopefully you’ll get a base by your home soon.
