Still guarding the airport every day on reserve? Didn't the new contract fix that? C5 scheduling wouldn't know what to do if a reserve pilot was 2 hours away.

Default Holding IAH

Anyone have up-to-date info on base seniority/timeframe. I was initially interested in the company for the promise of its junior IAH base. In my interview I was told IAD is now junior and where most new hires are initially assigned. What is a good estimate for how long it would take to hold IAH now, even reserve? Doable in a month or two?

I was told IAH is still doable right out of training. I’m in the 12/12 class. I don’t really have a preference but I’m pretty sure you should be able to get IAH

That may be true by the time you get here - if it's what you want, I do hope it's what you get. The last two classes got IAD.

Default Hours per Month

Any insights on how many hours per month junior FOs are getting at C5? Across the board, it looks like new hire FOs at many of the regionals aren't flying that much (20-30 hours per month).

Seen reservists average around 50 a month. If someone lived in base and were very proactive about picking things up I’m sure they could get more.

That sounds fair enough.

Based on my limited knowledge/research, it appears that C5's culture/QOL/training department is fairly positive compared to what I've been reading about other carriers. Do you guys think that C5 is worth the $20-30/hour pay cut from other carriers for better training/culture/QOL?

I’ve been in a career field prior to flying planes that was ****ty QoL and learned A LOT. Now I value QoL over an extra $20-30,000 a year. That being said, if you absolutely need the financial bump, then maybe the money means more.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've been in aviation for 15 years on the maintenance side. I am more interested in a positive culture, good training, and QOL than $$$, especially at the regional level which is temporary.
