C5 2.0

Let’s start a master thread. What’s going on on the FO side? 50 new FOs in IAD and losing ~30% of block hours in IAH in the last 2 months. Picking up for Air whisky leaving in IAD?

I'm curious that the bonus structure is coming back to bite C5 in the butt. FOs that might have otherwise left have taken the bonus and can't pay it back. Right now, the company would probably prefer to be down a couple dozen FOs for the good of the balance sheet but they can't leave.

Doubtful. FOs don't cost that much.

I think it's coming back to bite them but not like that. Anyone even remotely considering leaving is now going to try to get out as soon as possible rather than either (a) wait and have to pay back a bigger sum of their pay, or (b) not take the bonus and make less money than everyone else, including other regional pilots.

Touché. As much as I don't really mind making interest on a "loan", I really do wish it was straight pay

Any FO flying now needs to apply somewhere with better work rules like Frontier, Spirit, or SWA. Pay back that bonus while it’s still small if ya took it. FO friends at 50% in Houston are worried about holding a line next month and I haven’t had a paycheck that wasn’t shorted by company error in 5-6 months.

So how's reserve timing and pay looking like? Might just stay where I'm at, better pay, Aviate, but looks like less QoL even if I commute to C5 reserve. Any talks of base pay increase?

Junior lineholder in IAD is an August 2022 hire. All of the last few classes have been domiciled at IAD. I'd say the biggest rumors here center more on the gradual loss of IAH flying and the potential new base in ORD/EWR. But until anything happens that's all just rumors and for the time being we are pumping more and more FOs onto reserve with less and less flying. I personally have the faith that things are about to pick up but I don't have much more than blind optimism to base that off of

Where’d ya see that? When we were coming through a few months ago in SIT PG told us it was a 10/2020 hire….. that changes everything. I’ve been preparing for two years of reserve

Depends on whether you're talking about captains or FOs. You can go to PBS and download the schedule PDFs per base and seat from Dropbox. Compare to the DOH from the seniority list.

Reserve might be two years or longer if you're a DEC. FOs are usually on reserve 3-9 months in the junior base and 8-12 in the senior base. (The company is so small it can oscillate back and forth quite a bit from month to month.) However, with the severe captain imbalance that's developing, FO reserve times might be increasing.
