Well, we did negotiate a contract post 9-11 that was a world better than Contract '97. I only quoted Contract '97 because that was when we were primarily a turboprop operator.

Every one needs to stop using 9-11, the price of oil, bad economy, etc as an excuse to lower your expectations. Don't worry, management will find a way to make money even if your work groups get paid and treated well.

So, as long as you are not a lifer, it is OK to go to a company and get abused and taken advantage of just so you can get your PIC and get out?

Circumstances change in everyone's lives that make them make the decisions that they do. I simply can't afford to take the pay cut that is required at most places. If you would have told me that I would be at XJT for 13 years when I first got hired, I never would have believed you.

If everyone went into a regional job with the mindset that they may have to be there for a minimum of 10 years, I guarantee you people would not apply to some of these places.

Anybody interview with Commutair recently?
I have an interview coming up shortly and I would like to get some insight from somebody who went through it recently. I have already read the gouges that are available on the net, but I would like to have any additional info that can improve my chances.

Interviewed a year ago and the gouges online were spot on. I don't believe it's changed much. Standard interview questions, short written of ATP questions (no figures), a few questions about some Jepp charts. Probably the most laid back of all the interviews you can go to. Speaking of which, if you can get a job somewhere else, I would recommend you go there... unless C5 has some great quality that you don't think you can find somewhere else!

At the iinterview you will be shown an approach plate and finger fly it . I had studied the approach plate before the interview but the plate at interview was either a poor copy or the hold was changed so make sure you look carefully at the plate before describing the hold entry
This was a while ago so I cannot really remember the specifics . The interviewers will make you feel very comfortable at the interview .Also know the different airspeed colors on the AS indicator and what they mean May sound dumb if you havent flown steam gauges recently it might trip you up .best luck on the interview!!

Commutair might be a small airline but they are flying big airplanes. 50 seat props are nothing to look down your nose at. Their contract will definitely have an impact on the industry. From an outsider looking in it appears they are rushing you guys into signing this contract for a potential sale or merger. I would think that this rushing would give you guys a little bit of leverage. Vote yes and get this short term pay raise or vote no and see if they are desperate to come to an agreement.

I think you guys deserve better.

Well we'll find out sometime after Tuesday at 10 when voting ends.

On the interview you'll so finger fly between two points on a low alt enroute chart...make sure you know everything on it.

The airspeed indicator thing featheredprop mentioned is new to me, never heard anyone mention that. It'd be pretty pointless considering none of that is on the Dash (maybe a relic from the 1900 days).

I interviewed with P F He made it clear that being a CFI was a desirable trait for new hires ...I was not one .I geared all my interview prep toward 121 ops .He was more interested in basic stuff that CFI's were familiar with .
