I probably won’t be furloughed but a potentially large percentage of our crews likely will be, so there is no reason to hire anyone at this point.
Commutair may not survive this. Looking at those numbers union put out, looks like the end is near.

Stick a fork in TSA as of 4/1 (unfortunately not an April fool's joke). Compass is rumored to be turning down shortly after that (4/6). Safe to say UA is protecting its partially-owned carriers (including us) by shifting flying sooner than expected. This may explain why our pairings weren't cut to a greater extent. Count your blessings....and say a prayer for the TSA people who are about to need to look for work.

For what it's worth, I've been watching the flows the last few days I've been off and we're flying full schedules. No cancellations from what I can see. Of course I don't know what the load averages are...we could be flying empty airplanes for all I know, but at least we're flying and getting paid for it.

Well this post aged like sour milk..

Yea. Better off taking the unemployment benefits than the 40 hours to sit reserve pending where you are on seniority list. This is bad.

I agree! Sounds like XJT will soon be getting another batch of 145s!

Not sure why you say that. What I read struck me as a reasonable attempt to deal with the decrease in flying.
I don’t know if it provides enough cash flow, but neither do you or anyone else outside the top levels of management. I would assume that every other regional has had a similar decrease in their flying, so it’s not like C5 is in any different position.
I am only talking about survival of C5. Unless there is a dramatic upswing in United bookings and a quick restoration of flying, many jobs at every single airline are in jeopardy, even if UAL or C5 or whichever airline you choose to name continue on.
The fate of C5 or XJet probably is more determined by UAL’s fate than most other things.

Depending on which state you’re in, you should be able to collect partial employment benefits on the 40 hour long call line.

I agree. Sure....C5 is going to be hit hard, but relative to other regionals I don’t see how they are going to be worse off, especially because we were a lot more short staffed than many others just a few months ago.
