That company conference call was interesting. Hopeful this all pans out. They are betting a lot on all our upgrades staying. Better get a new contract, quick, or I just don’t see them staying or attracting new pilots, for this “expansion”. Hopefully we got some good news for us in the negotiations update email besides the LOA extension.

Just saw the captain retention bonuses and they are paid out twice a year based on years of service.
$1200 total till 12 months
$2000 total till 24 and
$4000 total after that.
Divide those numbers by 12 months and then by 75 hours a month and your bonus is equivalent to a $1-$4 pay raise. If you work more then 75 hours it’s even less
Am I looking at this wrong?

No contract update either? Not sure how they are going to get people to stay if they a captain or upcoming upgrade. Because I don’t plan on staying if this drags out. Love the people but this contract is just dangling over our heads with the money and qol issues.

Well, they did just approve LOA#8 today, which extends LOA#4. This means Dash captain pay for 2nd year FOs and a captain retention bonus (laughingly insignificant thought it is) until August.
But at this point I hope they keep their heads in the sand. It will keep us short on captains and 300% available every day. The captain on my last trip called in sick and I had an assortment of captains on the trip -- all making 300%. The last guy picked up a turn worth 5 hours block. 5 * ($68 * 3) = $1020. Mainline rates to fly a RJ for an afternoon. Not bad work if you can get it. Can't wait to upgrade, bid min credit, and do a few pick ups. I'll make more money on the pickups than I do now as an FO.

agreed. That little amount of money is not going to do nothing to keep captains. They are counting on all the upgrades for increased block hours, but I, like a few others, don’t think I am going to stay for upgrade unless we get a new contract soon. These ULCC have some nice money and pay same for year 1. Hopefully we get a deal soon in next few months. This crunch time for me.
One captain I spoke to made $128K here last year, which is acceptable, but he had to pick up a lot of premium to get that. $128K is like second year Frontier guarantee. Which only proves that nothing has really changed -- it's still better to GTFO of the regionals ASAP, contract or no contract.

really disappointed in the union with it. Im really hoping negotiations are progressing for them to allow that. Then again you are right, not really gonna get people stay for that little bit.

I am planning to stay for upgrade but I'm sending out apps the day I finish OE.

I really don't know what the company can do. The CA list is a constant churn because everyone here (management included) knows and acts like it's a get your time and move on type of place. There's no lifers.
The company can't compete with LCCs with money, they can't compete on QoL, they only can compete on the atmosphere. But atmosphere doesn't pay the bills or keep your family life healthy, so it's not a primary consideration for most. So while I'm hopeful the union gets some gains, I don't see it as a factor in retention (it'll be a big motivation for recruitment).
