Initial training

Just a couple of questions and observations from my arrival here to start training. First, we were informed that our ground school, initially scheduled for 5 weeks, had been extended due to the class size. From what I can tell, there are only 10 folks in class. Is this considered a large class? Also, when I checked into the Hampton, the kind gents at the desk told me they have my reservation from 6/9 until 6/20. Does CommutAir operate more than one ground school location? Just hoping for some insight from anyone recently through. Thanks.

Could it be that your class is so small they are giving you more days off during training?

I believe IAD is their only ground school location.

I start June 24th and was told by the onboarding folks that ground will be 5 weeks and that we have 22 in our class. How long are you being told you will now be in ground school?

Generally CVG or HOU. My recommendation is to go to CVG.

We are scheduled until 7/18 or so. The class that is here ahead of us is much larger. We only ended up with 9/10.

That's one of the last FO hiring binges, at least for now. I would expect that most of your class is DECs. If not we're screwed because right now we're losing more captains than we're minting despite the $45K bonus.

On the upside, captains are enjoying 200% regularly.

Word is the 7/24 class has 22 and less than 10 are DECs.

His class is currently scheduled to be 6 weeks. For some unknown reason, they are only going 3 or 4 days a week for a couple of weeks. This is not the normal schedule for our ground school.
