Default Commitment for upgrade to captain?

I'm coming off a contract flying 135 cargo. Quite a fair amount of ME PIC. Turbine not so much. So I'm looking at regionals to get that turbine time and 121 time.

Talking to former coworker's who have preceded me down this track, apparently some majors will hire regional FOs with only turbine SIC time and some of them won't, requiring turbine PIC time as a CA.

It's not that I don't think I'll enjoy flying the line in a regional because I will, but it is not the ultimate goal. I'd just like to know my options.

Can anyone tell me what sort of a contractual commitment you incur when you upgrade to CA at Compass and how that might compare with Envoy, Mesa, or Skywest?

When you upgrade in about ~2.5 years at Compass you have zero commitment to anyone. Now in 3 years when the Delta flying contract is up, the whole story will be different.

No commitment. Show up, fly, quit when you want.

Do we still have a training contract? Did we ever?

Thanks. That's actually a pleasant surprise.

Mesa is about the only scumbag operation that puts a training contract in place if you upgrade.

When I got hired at Compass, we signed a training contract as a new hire FO for one year. Didn't even finish training before the company got rid of it, though. Never heard of having one for captain upgrade though.

Nah no contract. Some guys finish upgrade, fly 50 hours PIC and then are being hired at legacies.

We have a guy who left for a major during his Captain OE. So yeah no minimum commitment.

Out of the other regionals you listed, only Mesa has any sort of training contract (three years IIRC).
