Jk man thanks, any options right now are great to have.
Word on the street is ORD is going to be a new pilot base once we reach 40 aircraft. At 38 now

I lived in Virginia for almost four years. It always amused me that my friends from the East Coast considered Chicago to be “out West.” Relatively speaking I guess it is, and in fairness when I was based in California the locals there considered Utah and New Mexico to be “way East.”

But thanks for the kind thoughts and, should it happen, ORD as a commute beats the heck out of EWR and IAD.

Lol I know exactly what you’re saying. Born and raised in SoCal. SAN commuter since 2004, reside in Oceanside. It’s one heck of a commute but I love where I live. I’m drooling at an ORD base and I keep telling the chief to open a IAH or DEN base and C5 could fill all the DEC positions

Not to be negative, Round2, but why didn’t you come to compass in ‘14? You could be in the top 15% CA driving to LAX for work. Or a LCC?

Also, not to be negative again, but why would compass guys commute across the country to sit in Newark crashpads on eternal reserve as DEC’s flying unfamiliar and inferior equipment to unfamiliar places in worse weather with shorter legs?

I was out on medical leave during that time. DEC Captains are holding lines about 3-4 months out of training. I’m just throwing it out there for FO’s with 1k 121 time. Most current jr dec sat reserve for 3 months. C5 flys all XR’s with the latest updates/mods, minus a loud cockpit and no auto throttles it’s not a bad jet. With the bonus of 50k (which you get all at once the Friday before indoc, I broke it up in two to spread it out over 2 years) and only getting min pay your hourly rate would be $94 an hr first year and $96 an hour second year. Hopefully by then you’re on your way to your goal airline. PIC is everything in this industry. Once again just letting you guys know what C5 is offering.

Best-

Second type ratings - even closely related ones - tell your next employer a couple of things. One is that you are not afraid of training events and two is that you can successfully pass them. That’s worth knowing to that employer, unless you are interviewing for another 175 job. And being the guy (or gal) that makes the go/no-go decision is similarly important, which is what PIC is all about. Particularly in these days where you can get ATP qualifying hours using SIC hours in aircraft that never really required FOs.

Same same the unfamiliar places, worse weather, and shorter legs. They want someone competent over the widest range of conditions possible. You can fly the SFO to Brisbane run with an augmented crew twice a month for your 80 hours when you are a 64 year old senior UAL captain and be backed up by two FOs each with a dozen years of 121 flying.

Right now if you have doubts you can hack worse weather, new places, and equipment with less capability, you may not be ready to move up. Going to a place like C5 might be precisely what you need to BUILD that capability.

Having said that, I’ll agree that Newark is sort of a pit...

In training with the chief and he’s saying ORD some time early next year. We’re going to start transitioning through ORD in October

Or reduced hours for taking history and gender studies classes as part of a degree

Of FE time

Crazy!!!!

Top five ways to tell someone doesn't often fly through EWR:

1. They think it's only sort of a pit
2-5. ...
