Not sure when OP when through training but as far as I know - the training was restructured a little bit last summer to help with us non 121 people. 8 in my class - 0 progs.

I went through in Fall of 2014 as one of the First R-ATP candidates to go through the program. Literally no issues with anyone or anything. Since that time I'd venture Compass hired and put through hundreds of CFI/Cessna types such as my self with no issues. If you just spend a little time studying your minimal flows/call outs that are required of the E175 you'll have no problem. To add, at Mother D they don't even do a systems ground school anymore. 99% of fleets are 100% home study with the Electronic Systems Validation Day 1 on fleet training. Exceptions are MD88 which had 2 days of system review.

Currently training now... it's not bad. No prior 121 or 135.

Just study a lot, that's what my group is doing. We were told the washout rate is like 2-3%, not sure if that's true or not.

How is the training laid out? Saying you only get 7 sims can be misleading if it’s aqp and focus’ on what’s needed. I would rather have 7 sims that focus on airtime vs 10 where 1:20 of each 2 hour flight is gate prep, taxi, aimless flying in the middle. after landing checklist and taxi.. all to practice an ils. There are airlines that give more sims but have you wasting tons of time. If gate prep, flows and ILS are all to standard why waste time doing all of them to practice landing flare?

We only have a few of the sims in the level D sim, but I think it adds up to about 25-30 hours.

A lot of time is spent in procedure trainers before wasting time in the sim. All of your flows, checklists, memory items, and procedures are all done before touching the level D simulator.

Default Recap.....

I can see that this is turning into a battle, which was not the point. To answer a few of your questions, I did not wash out. I flew for Compass for 6 months, until I went to a legacy regional.

Having gone through initial training with compass, and then initial training again with my new carrier, I can look back and say which one is better for a new 121 pilot. Both trainings are obviously authorized by the FAA and do a good job. And let’s be honest! A new FO is a new FO, regardless of where you come from. A good Captain will know what to expect and how to teach!

Let’s be friendly here guys. There is no need for negativity, pictures, and the jokes. Please have the maturity that is required in this profession. This is a web platform to discuss opinions issues and questions. This is not meant to joke, tease or start fights. This was simply an opinion!

I just have friends in the community that do not have the experience that I had going into initial, and even I had a hard time. Yes, it is a fire hose, but some regionals are worse than others in terms of training structure. Those of you who went through just fine, I congratulate you. You may or may not have had a heads up, help or any other advantage, but either way, good for you. I made it, but with a struggle. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO ASK AND VIEW ALL AIRLINES TRAINING curriculum to see if it meets your training style. Everybody learns differently and one course may be better for you than another.

And at my current regional, which I plan to stay for quality-of-life reasons, the training out did Compass by far. Again, this is just my opinion, and may I remind you that we are all one family here. We should stick together, but perhaps that’s my military background talking.

Other than this website having policies and procedures against negative rhetoric, I ask that we have mature reasonable, and fair conversations from now on. In no way did I speak poorly about Compass. In no way did I say do not go there. In no way did I say another regional is better than Compass.

I simply said I do not think Compass should be the airline for a new 121 pilot. If anyone is serious and knowing more specifics, then I encourage you to message me. HAVE A GOOD DAY! God bless America!

Skywest, Envoy and Horizon. It is not everybody’s dream to fly for United American or Delta. Some pilots are older in life. Some pilots have priorities in life, and some pilots don’t desire to fly long legs or be on reserve again for years.
