When does the Delta flying contract come up?

I believe the contract will either renew or expire July 2020.
Since it seems unlikely that Delta will stand down 36 aircraft abruptly in any event, I would expect if the contract is not renewed they will be pulling 2-3 aircraft a month off the line for the required inspection before transferring them elsewhere if the contract is not renewed. I doubt they would do that during the summer flying season - especially not THIS summer, when the MAX grounding is creating increased demand - so if the contract is allowed to expire I believe the drawdown would likely start next Fall.
If I had to GUESS, and it’s only that, the contract will likely be extended, since many of the longer routes are likely to be reclaimed by mainline anyway with A220 flying when Delta gets more of those aircraft, and it will cost less just to leave them where they are for a few years than to transfer them to someone else.
These 36 aircraft are sort of unusual, a legacy of the NWA merger and actually out of scope for anyone but Delta, somewhat complicating their sale by Delta. Yet another reason I think they may well be left just where they are for another two or three years.
But that’s my guess. They are Delta owned and the company can do anything they want with them.
My vote would be for a staple to mainline, although Bobby Lee wants to hold out for DOH.

Because the CEO of Republic, Bryan Bedford, has been telling his people privately that the Compass Delta flying is going there, and they are talking about it. We'll see if that happens.

Because some of us have been around the block a few times in this industry. I've had the rug pulled out from under me before by a company that was proclaiming "all is well" until literally the day before they furloughed us.

Haha reminds me of something...
<<Spring 2017 employee call:>>
“We are hearing rumors that compass is leaving MSP”
“No we are not leaving MSP. We aren’t buying any dreamliners either”
<<18 hours later, company memo>>
“Compass will be closing it’s MSP base”

Ahh yes but the Delta PWA is also being negotiated as well...I’d suspect a reduction in RJ flying to come out of that, and a large A220 order to replace all T-Tails at DL and some of the 76 seat RJ flying. The pilot group has prioritized scope (both RJ and JV) as a major focal point of negotiations. I find it interesting how long the Ejets will operate since the DL scope won’t allow the E2, some of those RPA jets gotta be getting up there in age.
