Actual staples and effective staples are two different things...see AA/TWA, USAPA proposal re: West pilots, etc.

In the somewhat unlikely event of an RAH acquisition of/merger with Compass, IBT and ALPA elected leadership from each airline would sit down in a room to try and negotiate something. It likely would then involve shouting, accusations and counter-accusations, each pilot group denying each other the jumpseat, much gnashing of teeth on APC and Flightinfo, then followed by an impartial arbitrator deciding how the lists would be integrated.

Just like what happened with Shuttle America back in 2005.

Ah, my better colleague BoilerUp speaks. You're absolutely right about "effective" and "actual staples", but I would like to add that one of the reasons the US/AW deal has had so many problems, and why ALPA was kicked out, was that the East guys wanted to effectively staple while the West guys obviously didn't. ALPA tried to get a compromise, knowing that even effective staples (even with AA/TWA type fences) are usually on iffy legal grounds. East didn't like that ALPA wasn't representing the majority, and booted ALPA out. Now they're working with USAPA which is having trouble with their seniority ideas because they are closer to an effective staple that perhaps the law is comfortable. This is partially fact, partially deduction, and partially conjecture, however, I believe it should at least hold mostly true. Perhaps a US or AWA pilot can correct where I have erred.

The new law that controls seniority integration between two labor groups with different representation has not been tested yet; it was just passed last December.

I realize guys have to start somewhere, I just don't want it to be in 70+ seat airplanes. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. Sometimes I still can't let go of that. As I said in another thread, I lay down my sword in defeat. I will remember these discussions the next time the scope comes to the table.

Kudos to you for flight instructing so long. I remember how sick I got of doing Turns, around a point, Steep Turns, and S Turns across a road.

Happy Holidays to you and your Family, and Good Luck in your future job hunt.
Well Johnso29, I must apologize for my harshness in my previous post. I do understand the toll that the whole industry has taken on all of us pilots, we just need to remember that we are all in the same boat and need to think before we all say things, but specifically me and I do apologize for me singling you out. I just sit here reading all these negative posts about the regional problems and then all the negative posts pointed toward us lower time pilots and I finally snapped. Again I sincerely apologize and hope for the very best with you and your job that they don't drop the "F-bomb" on you and your fellow pilots! May you and your family have the BEST of holidays and we'll see you in the skies! Take Care.
