Questions for Compass pilots
#51
No, Honestly I have no idea. But if there was a move to fly the D-8 Q4 it would be cheapest to make us fly it out of the Delta owned carriers. We would fill all positions with 1-2 year seniority guys keeping the crew costs down. And best guess they would fill it with 76 seats like others airlines but make us take a $10 pay cut to do it($50 to $55 captain)...Afterall it is a Prop! :-P
The biggest ? would be scope on something like this. I now there is a limit to 76 seaters but is the scope limited to RJ's and is there a loophole to TP's? Someone else would have to answer that.
That is our general hiring mins, yet in may also be a mistake. There is no mention on our jobs page at Compassairline.com. Just the usual pilot listing for the pool.
In other words your guess is as good as ours!

Q400s are configured for less than 76 seats so they would fall under the current scope clause. I have not heard this one but it's an interesting story. Q400s would definitely be possible replacements to cover those routes that are currently being served by aging fleet of Saabs and CRJ200s. Q400s have the range and speed superior to Saabs in addition to carrying more passengers than Saabs and they are much more fuel efficient than CRJ200s.

Hi!
Yes, I am VERY THANKFUL that I have a job!
I could just sit at home and organize our stuff: one pile to go to the firesale garage sale, and another pile to got into the crappy two-bedroom apartment that we would be moving into because we couldn't pay the mortgage on our condo if I wanted to.
But, I decided to go get a job that would pay the mortgage. It made sense to me.
I am paid pretty well, but my living situation sucks. I would be much better off at Compass.
If you want to be proud and unemployed, and lose everything, go ahead.
If you are not like me, and you are ****ed off that you are employed at a job that you think is crappy, like Compass, please quit immediately and refer one of my flying buddies that can't find a job and would love to have yours.

All questions can be adequately answered by the response:
DO NOT COME HERE.
Our scheduling GURU, MN, just sent out a memo saying it is an unrealistic expectation for anyone not in the top 10% of the seniority list to spend very much time with their families or have a decent quality of life. I am in the top 25% seniority wise, and that is why I can't get more than 11 or 12 days off a month. The tone of this memo was so condescending and uncaring, that it made our parent company, Northwest, seem like heaven. I got treated better at Great Lakes than this "best in class" dump.
Prospective employees, you have been warned.
(On the other hand, if you do come here, you will be well conditioned to flow up to the bottom of Super Delta after 2 and a half years of 11 day off schedules. Oh but it's "not a staffing problem." MN, Are you for real?

Hi!
I have been a professional pilot for over 12 years.
I have gotten 11 days off a month or more only 18 months out of that 12 year period.
I'm currently on a 165 day trip. It was the best job I could find.

Hi!
Hmmm....where to start....
I didn't interview at Compass because it was definitely a step backwards. If I had, AND I was hired, I'd be VERY, VERY happy with my airline career and my job, today.
My buddy has been there since Aug, he commutes, and does NOT have a crashpad. He says that MAYBE 1 or 2 days a month he has to stay in a hotel. He was previously at Trans States and Spirit. He said it is WAY better than TSA.
If you go to Compass you can't go to DAL? With the current rules in place, as I understand them, the ONLY way I could EVER go to DAL was to be hired by Compass.
Now, let's compare the ****ty Compass job with my current one: Only 11 days off and a HORRIBLE schedule?
I am currently at the beginning of a 165 day trip. Yes, you heard that right. Or, compare it with another buddy. He's had EVERY day off since last Jul, because he can't find any type of flying job at all.
A shiny E-175? SIGN ME UP!!!! I fly that, get 500 hours and a type rating, or buy my type rating, and I'm off to Asia, making 6 figures on a commutable schedule, or I can move my family there for a great adventure.
If you have type ratings and experience in modern in-demand aircraft, like the E-175 (or even ATR!), there are jobs BEGGING for pilots overseas. They are DESPERATE and there are very high-paying jobs everywhere.
I have a job, for which I am grateful, and I'm making the best of it. Compass would be light years better for me.

PS-I forgot to mention the family travel benefits. My CEO and kids would be using them ALL THE TIME and saving TONS of money. She would be doing travel now that she just can't. Oh, and you can save all the "it's too crowded" and "Standby sucks" and all that...my CEO has been doing it for the last 2 years and she loves it.
