That's probably right. I don't even think they will hire a FA that does not live in base now.

LGA service will be going more mainline, thus Compass will be going west. There will be no need to support LGA from MCI.... The whole point here is they are shifting carriers and Compass will be flying a majority of what Skywest currently is out of LAX.... The DTW base which is not needed now, will definitely not be needed when most of our flights are west of the Mississippi and 9E takes the flights from us in DTW....there will be too many flights out of LAX just to build lines out of MSP-XXX-LAX to feed/crew the flying.

In fact, if you look on Delta.com the have already loaded the schedules for our flying LAX-SFO shuttle and others. Just go do a random search on January 15th LAX-SFO and you will see all those flight operated by Compass.

But enough of this maybe this maybe that. Its going to happen one way or another, base or no base. We all know that TSH is cheap and isn't going to spend an extra dollar it doesn't have too. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

How long have you been at Cpz? Long enough to remember last year when Cpz "took" a bunch of "skywest's flying" out of SLC? It lasted for a few months, then things shifted back. I don't see Cpz opening or closing any base, and I doubt this Lax flying will stick around for more than a season.

I know starting in September there will be a MSP-MCI-LAX-SEA line of flying as well as some MCI-LAX turns with an LAX overnight but that still wont be enough to crew all the LAX flying come January...part of what we are slated to operate will be the LAX-SFO shuttle...10+ flights a day alone right there.

What is special about January? Doesn't this flying start in Sept? Think hiring will start again?

Have you actually downloaded and read through the schedule load? Tell me where you see this "reduced" LGA flying? Also, where is this "reduced" demand in DTW, which justifies closing it? Look into it and tell us where an increase in daily departures for DTW indicates it's closing. My guess is you drink the standard DTW is closing kool-aid.

Now if you actually read the schedule load, you'll see how we can flow into this LAX/SFO flying. Yes we will be flying MCI-LAX. We also have SLC-SFO. I implore you to go look at the flows in and out of there. We will work this flying just like we did last year. Both bases will be able to move in and out of the market. Also while looking into that file, take a look at how far in the future it goes. Now you don't need to go to delta.com to figure out why we are scheduled LAX-SFO through January. I'll even give you a hint if you haven't looked into it... We are there longer than January.

I don't want to bring you down off the high horse of moving west. However, it just isn't in the cards for the foreseeable future.

+1. The above speaks the truth. Thank you for adding logic to the discussion. Finally.

Remember: DTW was going to close during the push in flying into LGA. Then, DTW was going to close because of 15+ daily departures in DCA. After that, DTW was going to close because of the SLC flying last year. And most recently, DTW was going to close due to 20+ dailies in LGA again.

This is DCI.....in the words of the great philosophers of Van Halen...."Change, nothin' stays the same"

What file do you speak of and where might one find it?

Yep. Skywest doesn't own any flying unless they are selling the tickets.
