Speculation, but probably about 5 or 6 in a class, weekly until aprox Dec or Jan. We received an email from the union yesterday saying the company had told them 20 flows per month starting in Dec with a total of 115 going.

I don't know about class sizes and dates for poolies, but the flow looks like it's finally happening so weekly to bi-weekly classes of 6 or so sounds about right. Sim time is being cleared out for Sep. I was due for training then and was bumped up to Aug. a long with several other guys. Delta formally announced hiring starting with furlough bypasses starting in Nov. (class of 50) and planned to continue with a 50 pilot class in Dec. (maybe the first to have CP flows) and then 20 per month till Sep. 2014. Compass gets the first 20 seats in each class so that should mean a turnover of 25% of the Compass seniority list by late next spring. If you're in the pool sorry the wait's been long, but it's about to pay off big. If Delta continues hiring yearly upgrade time at CP will come down to 2-3 years. I was hired in 2010 and should be just under a 4 year upgrade if everything goes smoothly with daddy D. Game on gentlemen.

Any word on class size and frequency?

MrMustache 07-18-2013 11:28 AM

Friends getting called are hearing 20-25 a month. Don't know the rest... But I don't know for sure. Seems likely though. Anyone know about interviews starting again?

What kind of capacity does compass have for training? They only have the one sim in msp right?

RTRD 07-19-2013 11:39 AM

Seems about 20 new hires per month is the usual. Word is new hire classes every week alternating between 6 and 4 in a class to equal 20/mth. There are rumors of renting sim time in St. Louis also. But those rumors have gone around before and it never happened last time because it all depends on how much Shuttle America or whoever is using it and they get first dibs. If CP wants to run new hires and upgrades simultaneously renting extra sim time may be a necessity. What they've done in the past is bring in new FO's and get them on the line, then release FO's to upgrade and once they're on the line as Caps. the flow guys go to Delta. If they really get in a bind I have to think there's an E-170 sim to rent somewhere. Looks like it's about to get crazy here. Word from the Chief Pilot is 130-140 new hires. 110-115 for flow plus 20-25 for attrition to other carriers and to cover the new duty/rest rules. I bet our training dept. is on the verge of a panic attack, but good news for us.

I am surprised this news hasn't blown up more. That's a metric ton of movement quickly.

What's there to blow up? You're either in the pool or you're on the outside looking in. Until they start interviewing again I guess it doesn't really matter what's happening.

I was told interviews to start around August. Of course it's subject to change.
