Maybe just hiring until he reaches 1500. I have like 1475 can meet the restricted minimums, but the recruiter seemed like he was wondering when I would reach 1500. My interview is in two weeks.

Do you still have to pay for your own hotel during training?

The whole airline knows about the new LOA and since the recruiters are pilots I am guessing they know, especially since people are getting interviews with restricteds.

Any idea on how to get in touch with a recruiter as someone with an ATP, E170/190 PIC type rating, current and airline apps updated regularly?

You DO NOT have to pay for a hotel during training.
You could just as easily barter for a room, pitch a tent outside Pan Am, buy a cheap camper, sleep at MSP every night. Get creative |

This might seem like a stupid question but I just thought I'd throw it out there... During the 30 days of self study, you are considered an employee and paid training wage, correct? On that note.... What is the pay during training?

Take home pay for the home study period winds up being around $450-500, IIRC. It's painful.
Gross, it works out to 50% of the time required (technically, the "FAA-assigned value of the training module") to complete the CBTs, per the contract. So, first-year scale times 50% of 48 hours, give or take a few. (That 50% thing is the same for all distance learning, new-hire or not. The difference is you're not getting guarantee until you come back from home-study.) You can get done in a couple of weeks if you knuckle down, so it's possible you could work something out to come back sooner than the 30 days allotted if there's space. In the past, you could continue to fly at another job during the home study period. That has changed, apparently, although you can ask for permission to keep working elsewhere from the chief pilot. Dunno if you'll get it, but the provision is in there and our CPs are good dudes. Bottom line, if it's gonna be an issue be proactive, talk to someone and see what you can work out. That holds true for pretty much everything here, btw. That first month is rough. Everybody here has manged to get through it though. :-) |
