Federally mandated age limits for safety-related functions are OK. The Fed's policy is everyone must be eligible to work for at least 20 years before retirement, so the max hiring age is mandated retirement age-20 or something along those lines.

It stems from the max retirement age. Same thing for federal law enforcement and military.

I know that there are very few airline jobs out there right now. Be careful what you wish for in working for Compass. The path to Delta is a very long one. First you get hired, then youl sit reserve for a while due to the slow attrition, then your 30 months will arrive and you get to Delta right? NO. First, you have to be a captain. Second, Delta has to be hiring, Third, your have to be in the group who's attrition doesn't result in 25% of the pilot group leaving in a 12 month period.
As far as working for Compass. I thought it was a great job, nice but not great aircraft, ok overnights, great co-workers but absolutly horrible pay. When I got in I was excited that in less than 24 months I would be a Captain and then I could bypass the flow and have super senority. I soon realized it was going to be much longer than 24 months to upgrade due to the lack of flow to Delta. I was holding out hope for a while that Compass would expand into other liveries but in talking with MGT it doesn't seem like that will happen. Like I said, great people to work with, very experienced pilot group but the pay is just unbearable. I went to another airline, got furloughed and now am out of aviation all together. Good luck in your search! One more thing, there are a lot of jerkoffs at NWA/DAL who will treat you like crap when you try to jumpseat.

Thanks for your input. Compass wouldn't be my first rodeo. I am currently at one of the best companies know for being the worst! I doubt Compass could be any worse. I've been here for almost four years, gone from FO to CA back to FO and looking at being out of work soon if something drastic doesn't change. I'm not worried about the flow through or sitting rsv, I know how to play the game. I'm worried about my family and keeping the lights on with food on the table.

Compass is hiring, and Mesaba is kicking people to the curb.

Spoke to the Compass Pilot Coordinator the other day, and he told me that we are offering preferential interviews to furloughed ALPA pilots, with a focus on DCI carriers.

But the real question is: When do the flowbacks start???

edit: requisite flowback question somehow missing from thread.

What is your point? From 2001-2008 mainlines kicked experienced people to the curb and the subcontractors hired 300hr wonders like gangbusters. Now its your turn.

If any pilots are interested in pursuing a possible job at Compass, please forward your resume to [name and email edited out by moderator] and he will hand deliver it to the chief pilot's office. He encourages you to submit a cover letter with your resume and complete the online application at www.compassairline.com, which is required before any resume is reviewed or interview granted. Currently, Compass is holding to ATP minimums for applicants; in the past they have been flexible on the 1,000 hours of multi time. Anyone seriously interested should complete the application very soon. If the company decides to run a class for December, they may start interviewing soon.

My point to this post is that I am not 23 years old, but I do have ATP mins. Would I be considered for a job at compass? I have all of their mins covered-- aprox 2000 total time, 1300 part 121, 1500 multi, 700 (ish) PIC, etc.

Can compass discriminate by age?

Just curious-- I'm only remotely willing to give up seniority for delusional security, but I am intrigued.
Are you also upset that you still have several years before you can become President of the United States?

LOL... I can't believe this thread is up to 5 pages because someone can't read the FAR/AIM and the requirements for an ATP. Gotta love it!

If a regional airline makes you wait till you're 23, it must be worth going to...
