Compass Jumpseat to YYC
 

Hey all,

I'd like to jumpseat from MSP to Calgary and it looks like it's operated by compass. Do you guys take jumpseaters on Canada flights and are you able to get back as well? Thanks for your time!

Sorry, still can't use the actual jumpseat internationally. You're welcome to travel on jumpseat authority as long as there's a seat open in the back. Procedures out and back are essentially the same, except you should list at the checkin counter when coming back, where they'll likely have you pay Canadian departure tax. Enjoy!

And their rule is the PIC can have the F/A jumpseat rule waived if you are a DL mainline pilot, with a quick phone call. If the cabin is full, ask (if this applies to you).

Don't count on this..... Technically there is no provision in our FOM to allow anyone in the FA jumpseat other than FA's with an agreement. I know it's been done in the past, I am just saying don't expect it to happen.

CPO waives it 100% of the time. Any PIC that cares will contact them to get the jumpseater on!

Have only had 1 mainline guy even come close to returning this favor in four years when he took the flight attendant seat to allow me on the flight deck. Most the time I get left behind paying for a hotel room. This was out of DTW and the favor won't be forgotten, but odds aren't good

maybe this is the reason some PIC's aren't dealing with it..... Unfortunately it seems the way to get reciprocal agreements to use FA jumpseats is to deny it. Im not saying its right, but maybe it will get some agreements going.

I'm personally of the opinion that the best way to get some sort of F/A jumpseat recip going is to make every effort possible to get mainline guys on, including a quick call to the CPO for approval to put them in a FA jumpseat. You never know what 4th floor connections your jumpseater has, and we've already built up a lot of goodwill by gaining a reputation for being jumpseater-friendly. When a mainline guy doesn't get on because the plane was full and someone else had the jumpseat, he doesn't call up DALPA and press for a F/A JS reciprocal agreement. He just goes to the next flight and maybe grouses a bit about RJs and how much commuting sucks. Your chances of enlisting a mainline pilot's help increase exponentially when you go to lengths to get him on, let him know you did so, and ask for his help in gaining reciprocity.
