What's a reasonable G550 pilot salary
 

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I am entertaining an offer to be 1 of 3 pilots for a Part 91 job. Starting pay is $125,000 with a promise of a raise in 1yr. I'm typed and current. Info on corporate pilots salaries is scarce on the google machine, although NBAA will sell it for $250 to members.

I understand the reluctance to talk/compare numbers in the open, but I feel that their offer is low. No raise is guaranteed so I can't bank on an unknown figure 1 yr into the job.

Current Gulfstream pilots, please respond or PM me with your salary and benefits package. I'm trying to figure out my true market worth and not jump on a 'good' deal. If I went to the majors, I know I could be making $125k by year 2 & I also understand the flying is completely different (considerably more, union represented, more input on your schedule, etc).

I'm transitioning from military to ....some other flying job. Weighing options: Airlines vs Corporate.

125k for G550 pilot, especially for typed and current, is so 2008.

You can make that in your first year at some majors with some OT.

Where is it based? 125k wouldn't be out of the box, if you didn't have a type and currency. 150k is more like, mayb 170k in a big city--NYC or LAX

To many variables to "stick" a number to it.
An experienced 550 PIC in a big city can fetch 170K an upwards.

On average, a 550 PIC makes 150K. They may be tossing 125K your way cause your new into corporate from the military. Ask for 150K and then meet in the middle at 140K.

Pro Pilot salary survey says GV/550 Corporate Captain is low 114k, average 149k, high 187k.

As others have said, location and other benefits would make a difference. If this is in BFE, 125 is low, but in the ballpark. In a big market, it doesn't even come close for someone who is typed and current.

125k salary? Total compensation? You need to discuss any STI's, LTI's, bonuses, ect. 127k is the 25th percentile salary midpoint range via the latest 2017 numbers (Captain IV). With all of the addition of all other benefits, you should have a total direct compensation of 146k to maintain the 25th percentile.

G550 is "Jet V" on NBAA and the 2017 numbers aren't out yet.

$125k is VERY low, even in a rural area, $155k rural (min) and $180k-$200k in a major city is more in line. NYC or Bay Area, $225k+ (base salary) minimum.

How do you even break into these? A bunch of networking and a bit of luck?

That's a bit high, I'm from the NE and 225+ is full-up captain or chief pilot, not entry level.

To the OP, you can probably ask for 10% more after you get some answers on the whole package. Be real specific on bonuses, a friend looks like he might get hosed because he wasn't.
