Contract rates?

Does anyone have a link to a current competitive contract day rate sheet?

Lucky8888 04-27-2017 04:53 PM

For what aircraft?

Vital Signs 04-27-2017 05:03 PM

Is there such a thing as a rate sheet?

Falcondrivr 04-28-2017 07:48 AM

Years ago, willflyforfood had a page with contract rates submitted by members. It's still up but way out of date.
I've been approached about a Falcon 900 trip and don't know what would be a competitive rate. I've been offered $1200 a day for 2000Easy.

If you find out, keep us posted. That's a very good question we all could benefit from!

1200 is ok for that size plane in my area but some paying 1000 for citation 5 and hawker size. Large cabin gulfstream size hearing 2000-3500.

Lucky8888 04-28-2017 04:30 PM

We've paid $1,200/day (less for long-term) for a 900LX/EasyII contract pilot in SE U.S. depending on background and quals.

Lykaskygod 04-28-2017 05:25 PM

Rates in KBOI range up to $550 a day for flying. Small citations and hawkers.

I found these rates on this site. A little low I think but it's what you can negotiate.

Large Cabin Gulfstream V/Globals (Honeywell) are getting 1500 domestic, 1700 intl'. If you are 650/Global Vision, we are seeing anywhere from 2000-2500. I'd love to know who's coughing up 3500 Vital! I'm all ears:D

I agree. $100-200 low, for some. Not all. When I need a contract pilot I take NBAA standards and divide total annual pay by our aircraft average annual hours. To keep it simple. Say that aircrafts NBAA standard is 100k and that flight department flys 150 hours a year. That's $666 a day. So I'd pay anywhere in that ballpark.

That's not really how it's supposed to work though. A contractor has to pay for his own recurrent so one should add that to the formula along with self-employment tax; own healthcare; etc; etc; etc :)

$2500-3000/day for a G650 where I am. That is easily the highest paying airframe. A G550 would be more in the $1500-1800 range. BBJ can go low domestically because of all the typed guys willing to fly in the USA, but still above $1000/day. International it is $1500+/day.

Yes there was an operator paying $3500 international but that position has been filled by full time employee. Is that music to your ears?

This makes no sense. A contract pilot does not care how many hours a year the operation flys. What would you pay if you were flying 300 hours a year? $300?
You must not be feeling the shortage, yet.

Its actually great news. I hope that the rates continue to climb to the point 3500 is the benchmark. Was it a N registered aircraft? I could believe 3500 if it was a X-C.

It was an N registered airframe. Probably supply and demand situation with few typed at the time but with the cost of a 650 type and recurrent, it needs to be that high.

My day rates

I make my living in Texas as a contract pilot. Currently, I fly a PC12 locally for 500/day. There is one about 2 hours from here that I charge 750/day. A local King Air I fly is 500/day, but the ones I drive 2 hours to fly are either 600, 700 or 750/day, depending on the negotiation. I do FO duty on a Lear 45 for 750/day. I may start managing two Citation 2's for a monthly fee plus 700/day. I normally fly 12 to 15 trips per month, There is good money in contract flying, depending on where you live and one of the King Air's I fly may turn into a full time job soon. They also operate a Phenom and have an option for a Latitude.

Certainly not on the level of you heavy jet guys, but I'm doing pretty good, and it's nice to be your own boss.

Hi,
Quick question. Do they pay you while you are waiting at the hotel ? or is ONLY every time you fly the plane - Thank you

Contract is pretty much a day rate, plus expenses. So, if you have a day when you’re at a hotel and not flying, you’re still on the day rate.

Medevac6 06-03-2019 08:26 PM

I bill for my non-flying days as well. It’s only fair since I could be flying for someone else during down days. There have been trips my wife could travel with me that I did not bill for down days as a give back to the owners for paying for our hotel and car. Normally, if they reserve five days of my time, I bill for five days.
