What's the skinny on corporate flying in the Twin Cities area? Non-corporate guy trying to break in. Seems to be a lot about who you know, and I don't know anyone.

Go to a Minnesota Business Aircraft Assoc forum; knock in doors; talk to the line crew at the FBO, if you can. Working at Signature (?) would be one in.

Target, 3M are the big ones. Join NBAA. You can get the low down on all of the departments names address equipment etc.

I think pretty much any good corporate flying gig, no matter where you're talking in the country, can be a "tough nut to crack". I fly for a corporate flight department that has a base at MSP. I'm based in CO, but I spend quite a bit of time up in MN. I'd agree with the previous post about attending the MBAA meetings. The MBAA is very active and they frequently have lunches, meetings, aircraft demo days, etc. Knocking on hangar doors with your resume can also work. Networking is key. At MSP, there's Cargill, Target, Xcel Energy, Best Jets, LifeTime Fitness, Supervalue, and a couple of others that like to remain well below the radar. Over at STP, there is UHC, 3M and USBank, among others. There are also quite a few companies surrounding the twin cities that seem like good options, Hormel Foods and Marvin Windows come to mind.

One great way to get into corporate at MSP/STP is to get a job with one of the charter/management companies, like Best Jets at MSP, Elliott Aviation at Flying Cloud and Minnesota Jet at STP. I'd imagine that some of those companies are currently looking for pilots. Spend a few years there, while networking, and you'll stand a better chance of getting on with a good corporate operator.
