Default Global Express Type Rating Cost

I am about to have a second interview for a Global right seat position. Compensation will be a main point during the discussion. Does anyone know how much more it costs to type rate a pilot over just right seat qualification? Please include any links to such information.

Also, in relation to your ideal right seat Global Express salary, how much more should the salary be if the pilot is also expected to be qualified and proficient to fly a PC12 when the need arises (frequently)?

Generally, when a pilot is dual qualified, they can expect to be paid for whichever aircraft would pay the highest. In this case, I would think that the Global Express co-pilot position would be the higher paying of the two aircraft (but I could be wrong about that).

You can't expect to be paid "extra" to be qualified in an additional aircraft, unless you can fly them both at the same time.

Default Global Type Cost

From what I've heard, the PIC type is running in the $60K region. That's from Simuflite. No idea on SIC type cost. If the plane is new it should come with at least 3 PIC types for "free."

I'm waiting for training in the Global Express and was told $40,000 for a training bond/promissary note.... that's SIC, hope that helps

Apologies if this has been discussed, but just curious Erik, what are your "quals" beyond CFII? Types? Turbine time? Maybe that's the reason this job may be offered at that pay. Their looking for "snot bubbles". If their looking for a seasoned jet driver to fill that, maybe the pay would be industry standard.

Just a WAG.

Actually flying the airplane and flipping switches is such a small part of the job.
Agreed im fortunate enough to have one trans atlantic crossing in my thus far short career. You can not even begin to imagine the kind of planning that goes into a trip across the pond. Thats cause we also paid universal thousands of dollars to help out. Not to mention alot of those eastern block coutries are not to friendly nor understanding if a mistake is made.

It seems like this would be a "big boys" or experienced pilot type thing; what sort of company would hire a Regional Pilot (Ca or FO either) and what sort of salary could be commanded for a pilot with the time, but who is at his or her first nibble in the on-demand charter/corporate world. IE where can you build this experience of catering to a customers every whim if you're at a regional and looking to move over?

Not for a Global pilot. Did you read anything that Josh wrote? He is spot on.

I also mentor other folks that want jobs in the industry and actively participate on several boards and committees that mentor pilots or are aviation related. How about you? All I see is excuses as to why 85K is such a great figure... why not expand your horizons and strive for greater.

As long as pilots are willing to work for subpar wages, things will never change.
Can you mentor me? Seriously! I was furloughed from a regional airline in January, apply everywhere I see a job opening, and get no calls. I don't have a crazy amount of time, but do have over 4000 TT and 1300 jet.
