Global Express Type Rating Cost
I am about to have a second interview for a Global right seat position. Compensation will be a main point during the discussion. Does anyone know how much more it costs to type rate a pilot over just right seat qualification? Please include any links to such information.
Also, in relation to your ideal right seat Global Express salary, how much more should the salary be if the pilot is also expected to be qualified and proficient to fly a PC12 when the need arises (frequently)?

You can't expect to be paid "extra" to be qualified in an additional aircraft, unless you can fly them both at the same time.

Apologies if this has been discussed, but just curious Erik, what are your "quals" beyond CFII? Types? Turbine time? Maybe that's the reason this job may be offered at that pay. Their looking for "snot bubbles". If their looking for a seasoned jet driver to fill that, maybe the pay would be industry standard.
Just a WAG.

Apples and oranges. A guy getting into a Global Express is probably coming from already having heavy international experience in heavy corporate equipment, either from 135 passenger charter or 91 corporate. There could always be exceptions, but not likely.
A pilot that has only flown for the regionals in his/her career is totally unproven at three things: long haul international experience, working on a more personal level with passengers, and working hands-on with every detail of a trip. Actually flying the airplane and flipping switches is such a small part of the job.

It seems like this would be a "big boys" or experienced pilot type thing; what sort of company would hire a Regional Pilot (Ca or FO either) and what sort of salary could be commanded for a pilot with the time, but who is at his or her first nibble in the on-demand charter/corporate world. IE where can you build this experience of catering to a customers every whim if you're at a regional and looking to move over?

BB,
.
As far as what I'm personally doing? I'd consider this thread to be part of that education. I also mentor other folks that want jobs in the industry and actively participate on several boards and committees that mentor pilots or are aviation related. How about you? All I see is excuses as to why 85K is such a great figure... why not expand your horizons and strive for greater.
As long as pilots are willing to work for subpar wages, things will never change.
