Boilerup- Thanks for the info.

How about the leases for this type of aircaft. Do theses leases come with mx, dry/wet rates, hangar, insurance, etc. Just looking for the best cost effective plane. I tried calling a place but the guy was of no help at all. Not to sure if I can talk to someone since its the weekend. Anyone?

Again - it varies. WIDELY.

Where are you coming from in the US and where are you going to in the ME, and how often do you need to go there? How many passengers? Nonstop, 1 tech stop, or multiple tech stops? That will help dictate what kind of airframe you want/need for that mission...and the lease negotiations can go from there. You can probably get anything you want (for a price) but expect a dry lease with fuel, hangar, insurance, and maintenance on the leasee.

In the end, the most cost-effective plane very well may be a first/business class ticket on United out of IAD or Emirates out of IAH/JFK...

Perhaps these guys could help you out...

Midwest(ORD area)to Uzbekistan area, two stops at most, 6-8 px max, once or twice a month a most, and the business man doesn't want to deal with commercial.

Once or twice a month with 8 pax means large-cabin.

DuPage-Shannon-Tashkent gives you two legs pretty evenly spaced, KDPA-EINN at 3134nm great circle and EINN-UTTT @ 3122nm.

While I don't have any international experience myself (have been researching for future needs), I'd think a CL604 or F900B would provide the best value, although a 2000EX might work, a GIV would be good (higher DOCs) and a 900EX even better.

Looking at 2 stops and accepting a smaller/less capable plane, I'd think a F50EX would be about the minimum; DuPage-Goose Bay-Copenhagen-Tashkent with the longest segment under 2500nm.

for eight passengers a g4 or the falcon 900 would be my choice. you can find g4's for under ten million on todays market. anything smaller for eight passengers is gonna get a little cozy for a 14 hour flight. the 900 is going to burn a little less fuel, but now you have three engines to maintain. your gonna pay now or pay later with either plane. good luck

Conklin de Decker shows a 900B has 184gph less fuel burn than a G-IV, and costs a fuzz over $1000/hr less to operate; can't help but think that'd more than than offset the cost of a third MSP.

Of course, the 900B has a few hundred miles less range than the G-IV...

I get what both of you are saying, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Whatever you do, DO NOT BE THAT GUY who works for a much lower salary, or contract only, just to pay off a stupid type rating. The big corporations are taking full advantage of all the out of work pilots. We need not to be that guy. For all of our sakes in the long run.

Say what you will but 3 engines beats 2 every time when crossing the water, be damed the MSP and fuel bills, course 4 is even better than 3 (see avatar) for those not in the know its a DC8-60 series.....
