King air Pay advice

Default King air Pay advice

Hey guys,
The company I work for is a 135 operator and I’m coming up on 1 year with the company and they approached me about Flying left seat in the kingair F90 we have. This would not be the only flying I would do. I would still sit in the left seat of a beechjet 400a and citation 650’s when needed. But I have no idea what the pay for this kind of job would be and we don’t have a defined yearly pay like some places do. My schedule is 3 hard days off a month, but I only typically end up working 15 Days ( about 7 overnights avg.) very rarely get ASAP’s 2 in the year I’ve been here. We are located in the KY/IN area and I don’t know what I should ask for in regards to pay for this. We have medical and 401k benefits as well.

Since you will be continuing to fly the jets, your pay should be based on the largest jet that you fly then add some on top of that for additional duties.
I would base that number on the amount of extra work involved since you are doing the work of 2-3 pilots.

Sorry I had a typo in the original I will be right seat in the jets still. So captain in the kingair and FO in the Jets.

Professional Pilot survey shows 135 Captain on a King Air 90 at low $49k, average $57k, and high $72k. I work in an area that has always been at the low end of pilot pay and yet my company just hired a 90 pilot for either $60k or $65k a year. That is a new hire to the company who has zero King Air experience. It was also the first time in my company's history that they had to publicly post a job opening. Every hire previous to this has been an internal recommendation or somebody local who was known to the company.

Times are changing for the better. I would shoot for $65k at a minimum considering you are responsible for the jets also.

You did not say what you are currently being paid but If its close to or more than that $72k amount I would still ask for more because of additional duties.
If your plan is to get PIC time to move on then take what you can get and build your time to accomplish those goals.

Not sure of the schedule and amount of work you will be required to do. I have flown King Air’s for awhile and have never been paid less than $65K to do it. 4 years of experience in them now I’d expect nothing short of $75K. I agree with the previous post that if you are qualified on the Jet’s and are making more than $65K already, then don’t take less. Also depends on your location too....

Depends on your experience I guess? For a PIC 3 hard days off and working 15 days (but always on call and those overnights) plus flying all those different types and staying current on each? Are you doing all the flight-planning and int'l permits, calling ahead for fuel, hanger space co-ordination also? I couldn't imagine that being under $90,000 and that's low balling, being it's in IN/KY. At least that's where I would be, but I have over 5,000 TT and 3 types. I do it for the $$$ not the flight time.

He mentioned in a later post in this thread that he is right seat in the jets. Given that he's not a Captain, I am assuming that he is not doing any of the additional duties that you list.

Fair point I missed that. Maybe 65-70 is fair then.
