Paypal hiring pilots
Hi guys
I have been out of flying for 11 years was a fo on the emb145 with 600 hours sic time before i got furloughed and never went back to flying
I have a very good friend who is a senior of HR department At paypal who told my wife that paypal is looking for pilots and i live in the bay area and was thinking is this a good option for me. I dont know what they fly would be based out of san jose, ca airport and dont know what the pay or schedule is
I have two kids now work part time to be with kids and wife makes sustainable income and i am not sure if i should make the move should i wait anf ser what the regionals will do in a few years.
I imagine i would be on 24hr call and have no life
Any input would be greatly appriecated
Thanks
Zack

I looked in the NBAA directory, the have one G550 based at KSJC. Gulfstream jobs, even in today’s market, tend to go to experienced Gulfstream pilots, but anything is possible. In SJC, a current corporate pilot with international experience without the type, would be in the 150k-180k range. Typed, add on 30k, probably as F/O. Captains would be 250k-300k.
Likely a long shot being non-current and no corporate or international experience, but you won’t know til you apply.
Single plane operations go all over the map on pay, schedule, QOL—great to horrible. Nike and Coke being at the latter end, some great PE owners being at the great end. If they have four pilots, it’ll probably be pretty good—two weeks on, two off; no on-call. If it’s two pilots—go for the exits. Three is somewhere in between depending on the particulars. Ask about expenses, life on the road. Generous expense account and Marriott hotels make life better.
I know a guy who works for a private equity owner—turned down UA recall. Great expenses, three pilots, very set schedule, no on-call (owner just doesn’t work that way), very open expenses, great investment plan and all commuting paid.

If your not a member of *************.com it’s a good forum to join with a lot of resources. You have to some searching but may be able to find some posts about PayPal

I wouldn’t discourage applying, especially if you have an “in”. You just never know what the chief pilot might consider. He would be at a disadvantage negotiating a pay package, but trade a contract for the type rating and getting current could be a deal. I tried to create “developmental” positions but got shot down when pilots were easily available, now it might fly.

Because almost everything corporate.
"I dont know what they fly". Doesn't even know what they fly. Doesn't know a single pilot. Doesn't know anything about the operation. Hasn't flown in 11 years. Has no relevant experience. This sooooorta starts stacking up against you.
I'm not saying 100% can't, but unless the OP is leaving out a huge piece of info, it's unlikely. The original tone is that of, well I think I'll just go work at PayPal (at least that's how I read it, and I could be way off).
