Default Challenger 605 EGE performance?

Hello all you 604 and 605 pilots out there. Our boss is looking at replacing our Citation X for a Challenger 300 or a 605. We operate out of Eagle, Colorado a lot and I'm wondering if any of you can speak to how the 605 does out of EGE. We usually only have 2 pax and the farthest we fly is EGE to PBI. We also fly out of Eagle in the summer occasionally. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Piece of cake nothing to worry about at eagle, they fly the 757 in there, I believe you can take off at gross weight out of there too been a while since I looked at the book

Thanks Jeff!

Anybody know of any reason to get a 300 and not a 650?

I’d get an APG done on EGE, first. You can make KHPN out of KASE and KBDL out of Rifle in the summer, I’ve done it. Should be ok, but do good research.

The 300 climbs to F410 and above all the time, the 604/605 only do F410 and that only at about 10,000 of fuel and pax. Better cabin in the 604/605.

I can’t speak for the challenger, and I’m sure it will be fine in EGE, but I wouldn’t try and compare it to the 757. The 757 is probably the best performing airliner, with an insane amount of power and power reserves. However, I have flown the CRJ700 out of EGE, and fully loaded, it’s a dog!

I have flown a 604 out of there quite a bit. You are extremely limited in the summer. The magic weight seems to be about 37000 pounds TOW and you aren't making it very far at that.

Thank you GF, Skyhawk and Bkey! We are managed by Jet Aviation and they are running numbers for us but I always like to hear what the pilots that have actually flown it think.

I flew both pretty extensively, both domestic and international. The 300 has less redundancy in things like the single Y/D and aircon pack, so a bit less of an oceanic plane. The basic 300 is a six hour machine while the 605 is more 7+15 p, both at M.80. I’ve done 8 with 9 pax in a 604.

The 604 Nextant Fusion cockpit mod looks real nice, but lacks the bigger cabin windows of the 605. The 604/5 cabin really sells it, room wise.

Both “wake-up” and “good to bed” in 15 minutes with experience.

I was on the first fusion upgrade aircraft that it was installed, what a sweet set up, in my opinion the Mx costs are very high but a very nice comfortable ride with a 8 hour range, EGE is not a problem most likely for anywhere you want to go domestic, like I said aspen about 10k of fuel max and standard pax around 4 all around good aircraft I miss flying it some days
