CAE vs FlightSafety for Right Seat Program
Heard good and bad about both….
can’t imagine too bad if you are getting experience DFW has several locations for both How easy is it to request a certain platform and what are the interviews like? And pay, hours worked? thanks for any input |
Been a number of years, but when I was at FSI TOL in 2008, I had zero say in the programs I was assigned. Being the only non IP SIC I eventually worked in about 5 different types, as was put through a full initial for each type (but didn't get the rating) I was given a type rating after a year and they were gonna type me in just about everything they had but I got picked up by a charter operator. In late 2009, that was a miracle.
I enjoyed it but it was more of a supplement program where you needed another way to build time as well. I learned a lot and was treated well, but you need to have a good work ethic and learn to read the client. |

It’s also a great way to network. You’re paired up with clients for those airplanes (the whole point of the SIC thing). So, do a good job, be personable, etc…..I’ve known several SICs who have gotten either contract work or straight up jobs because of the SIC networking. As for CAE vs FSI…..I don’t think it really matters. I’d just see which center has cooler planes and apply there. |
I worked at both in DFW. FSI only has larger cabin jets, so harder to get hired directly into those. CAE has King Airs up to Globals, so if you get in a light jet, it’s easier to get hired with little experience.
