Greg Biffle

Greg Biffle was a really great human. I had the pleasure of flying and working with him several times in my NASCAR life. His willingness to donate his time and resources to assist with rescues and resupply missions after the hurricane in the NC mountains was inspiring.

He is missed

RIP to him, his family, and the crew involved. Always tragic.

NTSB preliminary report.

December 18, 2025. Listed by date of the accident.

Looks like they took off with the generators off, started losing electrical equipment on the left side, transferred flying to the PPL w/instrument rating, no MEL, no type rating, no C-550 SIC qualification. Biffle mentioned "alternator" and the 4 seconds later audio quality was restored. Looks like they were downwind near the threshold when that occurred. Inspection of engine core showed normal HPT blades.

Field elevation is around 965' (that's the height of the AWOS reporting station?). They were at 1325' on downwind as they were turning base leg. Distance to the runway wasn't mentioned at the time nor is it obvious on the depicted flight path.

Also throttles were all the way forward on crashing. Guessing he was used to auto throttles and realized he got too slow and went to max power after it was too late to recover.
