Default Beechcraft/Raytheon Internship Q's

I recently got a call from Beechcraft/Raytheon on an intern pilot demonstration position in Wichita, KS. I have a phone interview on Tuesday in which I will be asking some questions as well but just wanted to get as much information as possible.

I was mainly wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience, or know someone that does, on what actually the position entails and what you may be actually doing?

It is a paid internship at $9.00/hour and from what I have heard it is a lot of keeping records in order for new aircraft deliveries and ferrying aircraft to customers.

Thanks

You fly and do some record keeping.

Demo interns go on trips, usually flying the Bonanza. Flight Test (if its still being done) flies the jets as SIC, but you don't go any farther than Little Rock.

I was over in Flight Test, so I know more about that position. At the time, you mostly flew and did some light record keeping. I know the demo guys did more office work. That may have changed in the past few years.

Its a fun internship and great experience. The demo guys are a great group of people. Wichita on the other hand is a great place to grow up and raise a family...

Default Nix the Raytheon

Remember, it's Hawker Beechcraft Corp. now.

Im not trying to be smat-mouthed. When I was there earlier in the summer, they were stressing the new name, even using a Lenny Kravitz soundtrack (Fly Away) to do it with.
It is amazing how fast they changed all the signs at the plant in Wichita.

Morale is pretty low over there right now. Many of the Demo guys are trying to get out (Chief Pilots and others were fired, with the Merger). Not to burst your bubble. Good Luck.

This post is spot on, and a good description of what you can expect. The only exception is that when I was there, most of our time was built as SIC in the 1900. I worked on the demo side about 2 years ago, and we definitely did more office work than those in production. From what I've heard from my buddies doing the internship now, the office work over on the demo side has gone up, and little has changed on the production side (twice the flying with little office work). No matter which side you choose it's still an amazing internship...take it from me, I did 3, and this one was by far the best. Good luck.
