Update on Walmart Aviation
Just looking for some info on Walmart's Aviation Department. Are they currently hiring? What are competitive times? QOL? What's the typical schedule like? Pay? If they are hiring, what's the outlook. Thanks a lot guys.

Whoowee Bigtime, I've heard of some guys getting in at WalMart, but these are old stories of guys getting in when Walmart was a WHAT?? From what i've heard lately, in the past couple years, its very tough, gotta know somebody kinda deal. Thats pretty cool if you do know ppl though. Although I thought I saw a posting for a job in the Bentonville Area as a pilot, i think it was for the company that does a lot of the fbo work for Walmart. They had some openings I believe, I don't know if that would be an in for WalMart proper though. I think i saw their info on findapilot.com.

Long story short... it SUCKS to work for WM in any capacity. One of my best friends flew for them and my wife worked for the corprate office. He quit and went to Eagle - hates Eagle with a passion, will be a 9 year FO and wouldn't trade it for WM. My wife quit after the pathetic WM culture drove her to anti-anxiety medication.

I interviewed with them about 5 years ago with no contacts at all, just sent a resume. The interview was at FSI ATL and they interveiwed 20ish candidates for 3-4 openings.
Overall it was a positive interview experience, but since then I've heard stories that made me glad I didnt get the job. One thing that did come across during the 2-day interview was the cultish atmosphere at WM.

The main reason its hard to get a job there is no one ever leaves. Very little RON, good pay and good equipment. I worked at an FBO in FL where we had about 6 WM planes a month and I have yet to meet a pilot who didnt love his job.

As a pilot you with any corporation, you will spend a good deal of time with executives. The executives have adopted the corporate culture that was created and evolved over the years. Crews need to adapt to that culture. During the interview process H/R, through the interview process determines whether or not the candidate can adapt to such culture.
The same applies to the airline industry too.
