Nascar

Can anybody give me some info on how the flying is for the nascar teams? If there are any in Daytona Beach, and how I can go about getting a foot in the door with one of them ...Thanks

every so often they are posted on job site like climbto350, but they seem to be in very high demand and very competitive. i haven't seen any posted for the dab area but you might just need to leave riddle to get a job.

NASCAR itself has some aircraft at DAB but 95% of all the teams are based in NC - CLT, JQF area.

Anyone else get the feeling NASCAR is on the decline, or is it just me?

Yeah, and a lot of them just charter an airplane for the crews. Quite a few of the drivers also fly so they can afford to own and fly themselves too. There might be a couple with their own aircraft, but I'd bet it's cheaper to charter for them at least.

Rousch Racing has 2 727's the last I knew to shuttle teams around.

Someone else, and I can't remember who it is, has a few Saab 2000's. Few others use Brasilia's, and of course the standards such as King-Airs and Hawkers.

Have known a couple guys who fly for NASCAR teams and it is a mixed bag. The bigger teams typically have the best aircraft and the small teams....well, like I said, it's a mixed bag. Plan on being on the road a LOT! Best bet is to get over to the airport near a race and start talking to the guys who are doing it now. Good luck.

Does anyone know the name of the Chief Pilot of NASCAR Aviation in DAB?

The team departments are up in North Carolina, most at Concord (KJQF). And there is where the real jobs are.

I understand that the bulk of the flying positions are with individual teams that have flight departments mostly in NASCAR heaven; however, I'm interested in the NASCAR Aviation department.
