Contract Pay Charts??

Does anyone know of a paychart for contract pilots or another place that lists general info on contract rates? Which aircraft type seems to have the best daily pay and job availability for contract pilots? If you were a contract pilot, what aircraft would you want to fly?? Inputs requested from all experience levels. Thanks!

Hope this helps,

Wow, thats impressive. I didn't realize that existed. Great reference, thank you. I was hoping to stimulate some conversation about QOL, availability, and pay from contract pilots in the business. I guess this information is a little more close held than I realized :)

I think the thing about Contract Pilot's is it's just as varied an experience as being a salaried corporate pilot. So QOL I think would be easier to obtain because you can say "no" for any reason, but obviously you ditch someone enough they will probably stop calling too. I know a guy at my airport, salaried pilot on an Avanti, but also does contract for my company, and another local guy flying his Meridian. He limits his contract work to day-trips only, because of his commitments with the Avanti, but it seems to work out very well for him.

Here's the excerpt from that website I really liked seeing

******
This page is presented as an "information only" tool for contract pilots. This is NOT an attempt at "price fixing". Absurdly low rate responses from pilots NOT paying for their own training, not working as full time contract pilots, or pilots who have purchased a type rating and are trying to "buy experience" by undercutting their full time professional contract pilot colleagues have been excluded. (ie $150/day CE-550, $500/day G-V)

ha, that was my favorite excerpt as well!

My father full time contracted for a while in the GIV. I remember him making alot of money doing it. Although I remember him feeling like he couldn't say no and he personally didn't like the non guaranteed income. But your right, your working for yourself and you control the schedule...it can be a little scary, but I personally think it's the way to go. I know a few others that do it very successfully as well, It can really pay if you build a good name for yourself.

Contract rates vary by city and region. I am in the Houston area and was flying contract in Citations and Hawkers until a little over a year ago when I took a fulltime job with a management company. I was getting $500.00 a day as a Hawker contract pilot in either seat. Hawker pilots in other cities were getting more and some were getting less. Contract charts really don't amount to much because the owners/operators are going to pay what they can get someone for. I was doing pretty good contract, but full-time is more secure, or at least it was until the economy hit the skids.

I have a full time job as Captain on a Global Express. My schedule allows me to do a little bit of freelance, I charge $1200/day. I have close to 3000 hours in type, mostly International. The Global, like the G-V is well suited for freelance work, many Companies prefer the flexibility of using freelance as needed rather than keeping an extra pilot on the payroll. I have been in Corporate aviation for 30+ years, and most of my work is by association, old friends and colleagues, you could say the good ol' boy club.
