Chicago area jobs?
Due to the airline industry, I am unable to afford my place in Houston. Moving back to Chicago in a few weeks and looking for a job. Does anyone know of corporate jobs or where to find them in the area. I have an ATP and around 2600 total. No jet PIC but 1500 SIC jet. Any help would be great. Thanks.....To fill everyone in, I work for XJT. Now you won't have to wonder.

have you been alive over the last 12-18 months?
Its pretty brutal right now, very experienced guys are having a hard time finding work.
Your market is likely entry level charter, and they are taking it the hardest.
Sorry to sound gloomy, just the way it is right now.
Good Luck!

Are you saying you are quitting a flying job, no PIC time, no type ratings, no connections....and shopping in the corporate market?

I was hoping that my current employer would be stable, but now it is apparent that it might not be as recession proof as I had thought. Good luck to everyone who is hurting right now, and best wishes.

OK, out of curiousity then, how about Chicago area jobs for a pilot with 9000 hours, 6500 in jets, 1700 PIC in jets (B737, DA-50, CE-550, LR-35, and MU300 as P.I.C.) Full type ratings in BE400, MU300, CE500, DA-50, LR-JET, B737, B757, B767, DC-9, MD11. With extensive world-wide operation, sim and ground school instructor and previous Director of Training experience with a large charter outfit in KLUK. (I think that about covers the background)

I'd say that puts you somewhat in line with many that are looking right now - just average (if not below).....I see all airline and some older bizjet experience? How will you compete with a guy who is current in a G550 and/or a Global and just got canned from his Hedge Fund/Fortune 100 job and has a strong network and internal references? Thats the market today.
You need an initial, he does not. There's 50K and a month. Welcome to reality Mr Confidence...its an employers market.
and you are coming from the airlines? - many will still hold that against an applicant (I dont agree with that, really)
Again, I hate to sound gloom and doom, but there are VERY few jobs out there right now, and having an airline background? - might be even harder.
Good Luck and lets hope for a quick turn around!

That's pretty much what I figured. Hopefully this economy will eventually sort itself out, and we'll all be better off for it. Networking is definitely an issue, since I have been out of the corporate world for about ten years. I still had eight years of corporate experience prior to leaving for the airlines though, so I'm not quite a rookie with the corporate scene.
At least I am not in immediate danger of becoming unemployed, which is a lot more fortunate than many others. My main reason for posting here tonight was to get an idea of what people like myself will be up against, as there are plenty of qualified pilots out on the street right now looking for work. Good luck to all, and good night.
