Falcon 10

I can't seem to find this info anywhere on the web.....Is the Falcon 10 a 1 or 2 pilot aircraft. What about the Gulfstream IIB? If anyone knows, please post.

747classic 04-13-2006 09:37 AM

GII is defenately 2 pilots a/c.
I think the Falcon 10 is the same.

Say Again Over 04-13-2006 10:12 AM

Both require two

stu4770 04-13-2006 12:41 PM

What LJ's (or VLJ's) are certified for one pilot?

Say Again Over 04-13-2006 06:31 PM

Raytheon Premier Jet, Some Cessna Citations, Cessna CJ and others I'm sure. I'm sure any corporate or charter operator could name them all.

Thanks Say Again Over.

Hey Say Again Over,
It will be interesting to see how quickly the insurance companies turn the single pilot loose in the VLJ's. I would imagine the fractional companies will run them with two pilot crews. Oh, the Falcon 10 is a two man crew.

It won't be anytime soon. If they do opt to do this, the insurance premium is typically double.

It's usually cheaper for a company to pay a guy to fly in the right seat than it is to do single pilot ops, especially when it comes to 135 pax situations.

Sled 04-16-2006 08:07 PM

Never mind the insurance requirements, can you imagine the newbee single pilot in light jets, VLJ, in New York airspace? Weather is crap and delays! Going into TEB! Hello...

Pilotpip 04-17-2006 12:22 AM

I'll pass :)

I can think of a million other places Id rather be than sharing the sky with that guy... Rich hot shots in VLJs will soon be falling out of the skies faster than doctors in Bonanzas.

What about lawyers in Cirruses (Cirrusi?)?

GauleyPilot 04-21-2006 09:47 PM

Wouldn't it be horrible to be at cruise for 3 hours and not have anybody to reach behind your seat to the mapco to get you a cup of coffee!!!!

Some Falcon 10 have been certified single pilot in Europe. For certification you had to move an air cond valve from the cabin to the front to be accessible by the pilot.
Nowaday maybe one or two still flying with the single pilot approval.

Fixed it for you.

They built 226 and I’d bet more than 2 or 3 are flying.

Nicoooldudu:

You beat me to it.

I was told during Falcon 10 training that they were certified single pilot in France.
So if you have a French license and the aircraft has French registration you could fly it single pilot.
What a personal hot rod that would be!

My post was a little tongue in cheek about the resurrection of a 12 year old thread...

We traded our 10 in seven years ago to WestStar. They are still operating it. It’s a really nice one. But I don’t ever want to fly it again. They are cool for about 1.5 hours, then they get small pretty quickly. We used to take ours Coast to Coast on day trips. Not fun.
Also, someplace like weststar is the perfect owner of them now. The DOCs became unbelievable. For a while around 2010 there were several parts that were unavailable until someone decided to part out an airframe. Slats were one such item. I’m told we have lower DOCs on our 2000LX now than we had on our 10 when we sold it.

Yes, it was a thread revival...

I have a couple hundred in the “executive mailing tube”. Nice plane, but obsolete today, especially due to support costs.

Just saw a 10 land in SMF earlier this week while we were holding short. My thought at the time was "Wow, I didn't think anyone was still operating those....except maybe John & Martha" :D

dustrpilot 04-12-2018 02:56 PM

Maybe more thread drift, but I recently saw a Lear 24 on flightaware. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen one on a ramp
