I know its not part 91.... but when I flew Hercs our standard crew day was 16 hours. AC could request up to a 2 hour extension. Beyond that required a Numbered airforce senior duty controller to coordinate. Once on an exercise, in 1989 we had our crew day extended to 22 hours due to wx and a diplomatic snafu with a foreign govt. One other time while flying a NCA mission we were extended to 25 hours..note: that on these missions we had 1 extra FE, NAV, and pilot.

Straight 91..... none. Our company POLICY is to use 135 as a guide.

Sounds like a typical Orion snafu....:D

Yes there are guys out there doing 12-14 hour legs with 2 pilots on Global Express and G550 aircraft. In this market if you don't do it someone else will.

91 Crew Duty Limits

Honestly, I don't care how long the single leg is ... I'd rather not have three guys in the pointy end of the GV/G550 ... it's just two crampped.

BBJ without a proper rest area is just as bad. Not a fun way to fly 3 15 hour sectors and accomplish perhaps one landing... if you are lucky. One may be in the simulator to maintain recency of experience if flying is slow too.

Yes but remember someone has to insure the airplane and I doubt an underwriter is going to sell a policy that does not address long range flights for a company operating a Global Express in its flight ops manual. And the flight ops manual will have to then have some crew duty limits. Violating your FOM is a great way to invalidate your insurance.

So, yes, it can be done at least on paper. But won't there be a refueling stop somewhere? Can the GE do 18+ hours? If not, that means customs, refueling, etc.. and an 18hr flt turns into 20hr+ trip. Not smart.

Ref customs, many countries will allow a fuel stop or weather diversion without clearing customs, provided averybody stays onboard except one pilot doing a walkaround.
