Lear 31A & Beech 400A
Would like to hear the pro's and con's of these aircraft. Take off and landing performance, fuel burn, mx issues, etc. Typical flight will be around 700-800 nm with five pax, and about 100-150 lbs of baggage. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hands down the Learjet 31A is faster and more efficient for that type of mission.
I have flown them both and have managed and performed maintenance on both (more experience on the Lear). The 400A is ok but dumpy and not as good in X wind. The Lear can (full of fuel ) with 4 pax climb striaght to FL 450 no problem. The 400A cannot even come close to that performance. Any airport with 5000ft will do for the Lear. ( Aspen is another story but do-able). If you need a pilot, copilot or pilot /mechanic /maintenance manager, or pre-buy inspection. Let me know ,I can help. |
The Lear 31 will be best in the air & on the runway. Runway performance like a CJ, but it will go fast. Also the Lear has 731's and 9 out of 10 are on (MSP) an engine program. The BJ has Pratts and 8 out of 10 are not on an engine program. BJ's have also had dual flame-outs.
The downside, for the Lear, will be loading luggage from the front to the area behind the rear seat. If it's a big bag it want fit between the seats. It must go over, or between the seat backs and headliner, all the way back and over the rear seat. |
Thanks for the info guys.

Lear 31A doesn't have much range, does it?
|
Nearly Identical range, maybe a tad more on the lear simply because of how high and quickly it can climb.
