CP CALC for Citations

Anyone out there use the CPCalc for the Citation 560XL or Sovereign? I think Citation Share pilots have them. Going to start flying an Excel from 3600' strip---to be extended to 4200' They sound like a good investment ---any feedback pros/cons?

We use CP Calc on the Sovereigns and it is a great tool. FAA certified and
gives you the best numbers possible. Better than doing the book numbers longhand and even the Honeywell Performance Calculator in the FMS.
We used a aftermarket program on the Hawkers and this is a lot better.

We also use CPCALC for our CJ2+ and it is a great program.

We use it on our XLSs. Works well.

How does one get a copy of the CD?

BoilerUP 08-17-2009 06:32 PM

Buy it and a an airplane-specific database from Cessna.

Go to http://www.cessnasupport.com for a trial download on all the different models. I think it lasts 15 days.Looks like you have to be able to log in to get that info now. If you use ARINC for flight planning they also have alternate departure routes for airports that have SIDs that require a high climb gradient. I know we can get out of KEGE several thousand pounds heavier using CPCalc and the ARINC alternate departure route. (only to be used in event of engine failure)

One of our new destinations is going to be KEGE. Just briefly looked at the approach---are there any snafus or is it pretty straight forward in and out of there?

If you're looking for performance info for mountain airports, you might consider getting an APG subscription (if you don't already use it). We have APG runway analysis through our UVflightplanner subscription and its great for lifting max weight safely out of obstruction-limited airports.

Agreed. You won't be getting out of EGE IFR very easily in an excel without APG, and in the summer months you won't be getting out at all without it.
