Textron Cutting Staff?

Word around the training center is that Textron (PVD) is cutting flight department staff and equipment. Anyone else hear this too?

Maxspeed 11-28-2009 04:27 AM

I haven't heard that. I do know they have cut down on their flying, pilots are concerned, but no official word.

What I hear is that the CEO is retiring end of this month and the airplane he used is being sold or turned in. I guess that would mean pilots would be let go too. Hopefully not true, but I've heard it from several sources.

Maxspeed 11-28-2009 09:09 AM

I knew about the CEO retiring, but the rest I haven't confirmed. We must know the same sources?

UCLAbruins 11-28-2009 10:44 AM

how about some intel on that flt dept.(aircraft types, how many, # of pilots).

Maxspeed 11-28-2009 12:41 PM

They have 2 Tens, 5 mechanics, 9 pilots...maybe a few more I cant remember.

BoilerUP 11-28-2009 02:13 PM

Textron should have access to as many jets as they want/need, given that they're the parent company of Cessna...

Emailed a buddy of mine. He says they have 3 750's, 11 pilots and 5 mechanics. He said the 5th mech is more of a line guy type. Take it for what it's worth.

Ya I couldn't remember if they had 2 or 3 Tens. The Ten won't fit in their executive hanger so they keep them in their maintenance hanger. Is your friend a pilot with the initials..

The last pilot they hired I dont know.

The Dept Manger retired and they did not replace him, just promoted from within.

No, I don't know any of the pilots. My friend is in ICT.

I heard a few of the senior guys at CitationAir are in C750 initial and they are picking up the Textron flight department in addition to a few managed 750's independent of Textron, leaving the Textron flight department out of luck. It's a shame if that's the case. My dad knows a few of their pilots who have been there forever.

They did have a contract with the old Citation Shares at one time. Friend of mine did some trips for them.

As did my dad. Hopefully they will combine departments somehow so all of the current Textron flight department employees are not looking for a new job. But time will tell.

Hopefully they will, but it doesn't look promising.

This is very doubtful. CitationAir (formerly CitationShares) has 69 guys/gals still on the street, present company included. They'll recall everyone first then start the hiring process. Hopefully these guys will be given first look when interviewing starts back up.

I can't confirm this, but the WOTS is that one airplane did go to CitationAir last week but not the pilots. Three more pilots and 2 mechanics are now on the street. Looks like CitationAir is slowly absorbing the Textron department.

Probably true. Not good for the pilots and mechanics. It's a real shame, too.

Maxspeed 12-12-2009 09:13 AM

One pilot was retiring and they gave him a package. Another had been there for many years and another was a recent hire. Only 1 Mechanic was let go. One X went to CS.
