I hear this will link nicely with their new moisture sensing diaper w/ wifi: the iPeed.

I loved my powerbook, I love my MacBook, I love my iphone.

But saying that it's basically a replacement for a traditional laptop is reaching as of now. When it can run multiple apps at once (it currently can't), when it can support flash (it currently can't), when they decide to go with a more capable/versatile OS, when it gets built in SD/USB ports, when it gets a built in webcam, THEN it could be considered a replacement. Until then, it'll be hard for it to beat out current netbook products.

I have an 8.9" AAO running a LINUX OS, as of yet there's NO advantage what so ever to trade it in for an ipad in the ipad's current state. The 9" netbooks have just as much portability but with MORE capability. If you're really hardcore, you can install current MAC OS on some netbooks.

havn't looked into this but read it on a blog. probably no big deal but interesting:

The altitude limit is not such a big deal for displaying approach plates as I know of few airports with a field elevation at or above 10,000 feet."

There's any number of reasons why they state this. Maybe they didn't test it at higher altitudes, or it could be a condensation problem. Also they do state a temperature range, but I figure that using this in a pressurized aircraft shouldn't be a problem. I've owned my Mac for just over two years and love it. I'm really looking forward to it and think it will do well.

There are actually a number of them. Some originally made for the iPhone, but many now available as a native iPad app (or universal, for both).

Probably the most popular seems to be ForeFlight HD
Others are SkyChartsPro and AeroCharts

These are iPad native apps, but plenty of others are available, and you can find a listing of them at the AviatorApps website.

It would be the perfect sized device for EFB usage.

The clunky tablet PCs we are now using, which are quite new, combined with the crappy Windows interface and antiquated Jepp software is a big pain.

Maybe when Jepp does something worthwhile R&D it will include the development of a version for OS X and iPhone/iPad OS4.

What is funny is Jepp runs great on XP under Parallels on my Macbook Pro. Runs more reliably than any "real" PC I have used.

I love watching the typical naysayers of new Apple products spout their ignorance in the expected fashion. All of them have been wrong.

Heard today from a friend of mine at Jepp that they are working right now to produce JeppView for the iPad.
