Really?? How much of a disgrace are you to the pilot community, when I entered the industry i thought pilots tried to help each other out, guess I was way off in that assumption...I am simply a young, low time guy trying to catch a break and build some time. If you dont know of any opportunity then just say, nope there is nothing, or better yet, dont even reply to the post! I would much rather you not say a single thing then attack me about a simple post I made on a little online forum...you all are absolutely ridiculous, so much for thinking that any new guys to the industry could get some help from guys who have been in it for years and may or may not have some connections. Wow...

Thank you dosbo...

Yes - - - really bblack88.
There are tons of guys willing to help a guy get a break on this forum.
They are just not willing to help a guy out who is doing the very thing that is hurting the industry overall. They are TRYING to educate YOU on the realities of the industry that YOU SAY you are interested in entering.
How dare YOU come on the forum and give these guys crap that have been living YOUR dream for trying to show you the light?

Education bblack88 - that is what a majority of these forums are good for - - and you are missing the lesson.

If you had come on the forum and asked for help finding a job for low time pilots - well APC even has a special forum set up specifically for you!
If you come on APC asking for help finding a job that will let you fly for "CHEAP" (your word) then don't expect to much help.

You might want to read dosbo's post again and read between the lines before you go handing out "thank you[s]" ;)

that is *exactly* what every pilot on this forum just tried to do... educate you from their past experiences. If you choose not to listen to the lessons, that is your choice. Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it!

Your lesson today may have been a bit harsh, but if you cannot learn lessons from harsh input, you are entering the wrong business. This is not an industry that is all roses and apples.

Also, pilots were the number 4 most lost job last year (2009, Your Career: The nine hardest-hit jobs of 2009 - Money - TODAYshow.com ), so there are a *ton* of highly qualified individuals on the street right now who are trying to make ends meet... and you want to be "cheap".

I have to agree with a lot of what's been said already. As a guy who is kind of in the same boat as bblack, I understand the allure of the easy time-building job.

But, I turned down a full time instructing gig in Chicago because I did not like the organization, the general working environment, or the pay. It just wasn't a good fit for me.

These guys are right. Don't be willing to undercut yourself. You'll get trapped in low-paying jobs, and be unhappy. Consequently, undercutting yourself causes the guy below you to undercut. Rinse, repeat. It's not good for US IN GENERAL. Think of the long term. If you put your name out there and walk in resumes, someone will call you back. Maybe not now, but the economy in general is pretty rough. Pilots happen to see a lot of the worse end.

Good luck.

No need to thank me.

I am happy to use sarcasm to make a point. If you are willing to work cheap you will be compensated that way, for the rest of your career.

I generally don't care for employee's of several particular regional/commuters because they are willing to undercut the industry to get ahead in the hopes of moving on to the majors. Or flying a class of aircraft that majors used to fly but for significantly lower wages. Unfortunately they don't seem to realize that they are undercutting the very jobs they want to move on to. Ironically they are dooming themselves to a career at a POS regional/commuter.

On a positive note I recently met a pilot in the guard who left a regional flying 70 seaters because he just could not afford to live on the wages paid. He had the judgement to quit being a part of the problem, as a result I am more than happy to give him a future reccomendation based on that judgement. I respect the fact that he valued his skills and was no longer willing to wh0re himself out.

Unfortunately too many people are salivating to fly larger and larger jets that used to be mainline at *&*&%^%$ poor wages. Just see the survey in the regional section on scope.

Welcome to commercial aviation.:D

bblack88,

You ask a question and just because you don't like the answer doesn't give you justification to get snotty. Our industry is on a downward spiral, partially due to those (like you are willing to do)
that are willing to undercut everyone else just to build some time. It is the equivalent of selling your soul. Most everyone here will be happy to help you as much as they can. However, nobody will help you when you aren't willing to listen to answers to the very questions that you asked.

bblack88,

I have come to the speculation that you MUST be the devil... how dare you try to offer to fly for cheap in order to help build time towards a career in this industry... I bet nobody else in this forum, has ever eaten crap to get the opportunity to fly airplanes... You low-time sub-humans are the ones that are raping America. And based off of your original post, I can see your intention was to destroy aviation... Take your violin-toting, sinful ways to church and ask for forgiveness for trying to advance yourself in aviation...:)

Coming from a guy trying to get on with GLA, hardly a surprise... Just another low timer willing to lower the bar.

I'm in the MKE area. How much time do you have? If you mow my lawn or dog sit for me while i'm on a trip I'll give you an hour in the plane with the APU running doing FMS update. Two FMS's so it's multi time and with the APU up it's turbine also!
