iPod & foreflight App...awesome

I just have to share this with you guys.

A friend of mine has been using an iPad with the foreflight App for some time and telling me how well it works.

Today I broke down and purchased the iPad and purchased the App for $75 and oh my God!!!!

This is going to be awesome.

The amount of very timely information is just incredible. As few or as many terminal procedures, arrivals, departures, NOTAMs, highs and lows, sectionals, weather, FBO's, fuel prices, and quick very easy comparisons between airports, FBOs and fuel prices in just un real. Very easy to use and the quality of the images as you zoom in on things is incredible. and in addition to all that you have full fast internet and email as well.....

I'm not a sales person...just a pilot and i had to share this with you guys.

I haven't used it in the plane yet but I expect it to be exceptionally convenient and easy in the cockpit.

With your I-Pad app you also get a I-pod app free.

We use the I-Pad for foreflight and also Jepp. charts. That along with wireless internet on our airplane is one helluva setup. Definately recommend it.

That's good to hear, I just bought the iPad today and was wondering if foreflight would work fine in the regular iPad wifi non 3g version...

AOPA Online: Jet charter to use Jeppesen iPad app in lieu of paper charts

I don't have one but it looks like a good tool, specially when you're in Aspen and trying to figure out climb gradients and all that stuff

The non 3g version does not have an internal GPS. This means that your charts will not be geo-referenced.

How will Jeppview help determine climb gradients?

As a pretty loyal MAC user I guess I just dont need an "app" to see what APG already includes on an ARINC flight plan.....which is emailed and stored on the iPad/iPhone now. FWIW Arinc has said they have more ipad stuff coming. Maybe we can eliminate opening the email in Goodreader.

Jeppview is nothing more than a chart viewer - but well worth it as its fast and easy to update. Foreflight may wow any new user but in reality just an accukwik with assorted other questionably useful functions that are pretty to look at (weather)..

Dont get me wrong here - iPads are a no brainer at $499...but certainly not some earth shattering invention for the cockpit.
